Ford Mustangs Boss 5.0 on Wards Top 10

For the 2012 year, Wards Auto has named the Ford Mustang Boss 302 V8 engine as one of the 10 best in contention. After capping 2011 with honors, the Ford 5.0 redux has once again shown its blue blood takes the cake in the categories of excellence, refinement, quality, and most importantly to us, power with reliability. What’s more, the Mustang’s 5.0 V8 was the largest displacement engine in the top 10 and the sole v-banked 8-cylinder to receive notoriety. Even more interesting? The 5.0 is amongst good company on the top 10 list, with other makes like Audi and BMW padding up the additional awards.

Nce, even the 2.0L EcoBoost DOHC I-4 (Ford Edge) made the list.

might be my age but a 2.0 seems small for such a large vehicle

Not when you throw a turbo at it. They actually work really well.

Any idea what the rpms are spinning at on the highway, say 70 mph. I would guess it might be high

That would also depend on the transmissions gearing. Seeing that everything is pretty much getting a 6 gear in an auto, or mannual, the rpms shouldn't really be that bad at all.
