Like the article mentioned the pricing was not competitive anymore to boot as you can get a Ram Hemi 4x4 for a little over 25k out here. I always liked the look of the little one but alas woo too just hit 12,000 posts lol
This was the biggest reason Ford decided to drop the Ranger. As great of a truck as it is everything on it is outdated and it was due for a complete overhaul. The reason it sells so well is the price difference from the base F150, but if they were to rework it and increase the price the gap wouldn't be enough and most would probably just step up to the F150 anyway. Once the model year is over watch for some aggresive pricing on reg cab 3.7L F150 models as that would be the next closest choice.

There is no replacement set in stone but they are considering a model that would be built on the Transit Connect platform.

Great call on the Lightning as to me that was the most attractive muscle truck to be had

A Lightning would be awesome. The new 5.0 in the F150 seems to respond to mods very nicely. There's a thread about it on an F150 site I frequent, JLP performance made 355rwhp and 365rwtq with an intake, muffler swap and a tune with a 2wd 5.0. Heck stock it made 331rwhp.

Something might be in the works, but if it comes back, I'd bet on it being powered by the EcoBoost V6. I've been bugging my dealer for the last year about getting a regular cab, short box, 2 wheel drive F150 with that engine, and Ford won't build it. This has me thinking either A: They're holding on to that for something special (Lightning?), or B: They're afraid it would put the hurt on the Mustang.

To hell with fuel mileage anyway. I say they take the 6.2 from the Raptor and throw a 2.3 Kenne Bell S/C on it, with a few other odds/ends. Hennessey made a supercharged Raptor with 575 HP, that might be a good start.

Dodge has the R/T so imagine 390hp with a s/c in a 2wd platform
