Jack Roush Hospitalized After Plane Crash

Jack Roush, co-owner of Roush Fenway Racing and builder of Roush Mustangs, has been hospitalized following a plane crash at Wittman Regional Airport in OshKosh, Wis. The crash in his Hawker Beechcraft Premier small passenger jet is best described as a hard landing and ther was no fire as a result.

Jack Roush was set to appear at the annual EAA AirVenture show, where a secially built car bearing his and Carroll Shelby’s name is to be auctioned. He was able to walk from the wreckage though he was seriously injured with several cuts and abrasions. He was transported to a local hospital where Dr. Kevin Wasco, the attending physician, says that Roush is in serious but stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening.

Roush was attempting to land his plane around 6:15 PM CST. Witnesses say he stalled following what appeared to be an aborted landing attempt, dropped a wing, and then impacted the runway. No flames or smoke were seen.

Roush, an avid pilot and warbird owner who nearly lost his life in a plane crash in April of 2002, is in serious but stable condition at a local hospital. His friend Brenda Strickland, of Plymouth, Michigan, was in the aircraft during the crash. Both she and Roush were able to walk off the plane.

UPDATE ON THE CONDITION OF JACK ROUSH

Jack Roush, co-owner of Roush Fenway Racing and chairman of ROUSH Enterprises, remains hospitalized in serious, but stable condition following a plane accident at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis., yesterday. He is currently under observation for facial injuries sustained in the accident.

His passenger, Brenda Stricklin, was treated and released from a Wisconsin hospital this afternoon.

The entire Roush organization would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and well wishes. Those wishing to make a charitable donation in the name of Jack Roush are encouraged to contribute to Speedway Children’s Charities at Speedway Children's Charities. Please identify your contribution as “Jack Roush” in the notes section.

As information and updates are available, they will be posted to Roush Fenway Racing and ROUSH Performance Products.

I think Jack should stick to building Mustangs, 'cause he doesn't appear to be much of a pilot, but at least this time when he crashed, it wasn't into a lake. Dudes running out of lives!

Very lucky. Wonder if he'll keep flying. If I were him I'd stay on the ground for a while.
