Since the Camaro was introduced last year, it has held the lead in sales over the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger each month – until now. The 2011 Ford Mustangs have begun to reach the hands of the waiting public and when combined with those interested in a bargain on a slightly less powerful 2010 model Mustang, sales boomed in May. Ford sold 10,225 Mustangs, a combination of 2010 and 2011 model year vehicles (5,849 were 2011s), making May the best month in the past year for the storied performance car. Chevrolet moved 8,931 units in May and Dodge sold a record 3,828 Challengers in May 2010. I don’t expect Chevrolet to sit back and watch the Mustang lead the segment in sales but with recent news that the Camaro would see a price increase across the model lineup, Ford could continue to see the Mustang pull away from the Camaro. General Motors continues to tease about a new Z/28, possibly packing the supercharged LSA engine from the Cadillac V-Series but what can we expect a 556 horsepower Camaro to cost? You would expect it to be fairly expensive and I can’t see a high dollar, low production trimline making that big of an impact on the consumer market battle between the two modern muscle cars. I am not surprised in the slightest. Mustangs have generally outsold Camaro's because of a couple of reasons 1) price 2) performance is generally a wash 3) Mustang looks better tehehe

Great news. Ford is doing it right. I think the Camero is gonna get a beating now that the 2011 Mustangs are out.

That is sweet to here.
The question now is,didn't GM learn anything before it begged the Governement for money?!?They plan to increase the prices on the Camaro! The SS is already near the GT500 range,if the Z28 does come out, will it be in the Corvette, and Viper range??!!??!!They don't get it do they.Anyways, again awesome news for Ford, and to bad for the other two that can't seem to find the right formula! You would think they would learn a thing or two from watching one of Fords longest running name brands that is in the pony wars, the MUSTANG! |

It's only a matter of time.Keep it in the same range as the stang to be competitive if you want to compete in the pony war, otherwise why bother even building it when most can't afford it!?!

I know a chap that pays 800 month on a 07gt convert. This is what happens with a nothing down plan and the poor guy has to think about that 800 for a minimum of 5 years. Ouch
