I love Nascar, and I love Mustangs!:chacha: They ran the Mustang in the nationwide series for the last half of the year, last year, and I think it looks great. Dodge also ran the Challenger, and it looked ok too. The pic on my sig is the Nationwide car from last year, and I like it. I don't why the hell they have a Taurus and Impala in racing anyhow, makes much more sense to get the pony cars in there!:tup

VAEM 02-12-2011 06:23 PM

^^^ Agreed.

SNAKEBITE 02-12-2011 11:11 PM

I retired from Nascar in 87/88

fast Ed 02-12-2011 11:46 PM

I made it to the early 90s ... losing Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki so close together was tough. I'd rather watch Australian V8 Supercar now.

cheers

I agree totally, but it wud B pretty interestin to ride along @ 200+ & touch a few bumpers or doors!! :chacha:

I was a Dale Earnhardt fan before he died in a crash at Daytona in 2001, and have been a fan of Nascar ever since. The biggest reason I liked him, was the fact that he was just down to earth, regular guy that started with absolutely nothing, and made it big in Nascar because of his ability to drive a car at crazy high speeds with no fear, and he was probably the biggest reason a bumper in Nascar was called a "chrome horn"! Nobody got in his way, but everybody got out of his way, and not always by choice.

SNAKEBITE 02-14-2011 08:34 PM

I was a David Pearson fan

Yeah, back when real men raced, and Nascar allowed them to police themselves, and not get penalized for showing some emotion or frustration. Although I am still a HUGE fan of the sport, some of these kids driving now, look a lot younger than my 18 year old son, and I think my wife could alot of their asses. :lol

SNAKEBITE 02-15-2011 03:56 PM

My problem is the supposed cars racing ie Camry's Fusions etc

They are all the same anyway, as far as body and chassis. The only thing that really defines the brand, is the motors and tranny.

My buddy, who is a huge Chevy fan, tries to rub it in every time a Chevy wins. All I have to do to shut him up, is ask him what type of rear-end that Chevy was using.......Oh, that's right....it's a FORD 9":D

To be honest, if they brought back Trans-Am Racing, and actually televised it live, I would definately prefer that. NHRA is still my favorite:chacha:

SNAKEBITE 02-16-2011 08:44 PM

ooh Trans-Am is the cats meow

darkhorse3.8 03-07-2011 07:23 PM

I think the Mustangs & other Pony cars are great for Nascar. Too bad Chevy hasn't brought in the Camaro.
I am a huge Nascar fan & have been since joining a pool at work a couple of years ago. Carl Edwards is the man, so nice to see the Fords winning again. Jack Roush & Yates with the new FR9 Engines kick butt!

BUCKINGT 03-07-2011 08:21 PM

Calling 2011 Nascar season, the year of the Blue Oval

BBYE 03-12-2011 08:03 PM

Nascar

Hi ya'll....I've been a longstanding Nascar fan..Dale & Jr...that old Harvick guy ain't to bad a racer either!
Anyway, doing a bucket list thing this October and going to Charlotte for the Sprint Cup race. My wife has to go judge at The American National Specialty for Old English Sheepdog's in Hickory NC..just an hour from Charlotte 3 days before the race. So the timing was awesome!

So this all ties in with getting my new Red/Blk Roush 5XR....whooohaaaa!
BBYe BBYE is at the border as we speak...
Kojak:chacha:

CRASH 03-12-2011 08:14 PM

That's a pretty cool "list" ya got goin there. :tup

Everett 03-13-2011 08:16 AM

Although it was before my time I have seen many re-broadcasts of real stock car racing. Petty in the superbird. Cars that you could buy off the lot raced. That was cool. I still am a fan of NASCAR but I like the grass roots racing. Real men and families at the track. Mama making lunch while the boys changed the tires. I must be a prairie boy

Everett 03-13-2011 08:17 AM

Oh ya....gooooooo Tony

SNAKEBITE 03-13-2011 04:25 PM

^^^100% completely agree with you

Those days are long gone. There is no professional racing where they use cars that you can buy off the lot anymore. The closest thing is the Grand Am series, but I still want to see a re-birth of the Trans-Am series, especially now that the big 3 are all making pony cars. All we need is American Motors to bring back the AMX/Javelin.:tup

CRASH 03-14-2011 09:24 PM

I totalled my 68 Javelin, always wanted an AMX, but I never really thot of them as Nascar material.

DublDee 03-14-2011 09:28 PM

No not Nascar material for sure, bit they had a lot of success in Trans Am, and as a street car, I think they were pretty cool.

CRASH 03-14-2011 09:51 PM

Ya, that little AMX sure stomped on a lot of the big boys :)
