The big thing in this instance, is that the manufacturers play a huge part in the development of the cars in Nascar, and unfortunately, Dodge has pulled back a large part of their support, due to financial difficulties. That's why i said, that I really doubt Dodge will be around, in this sport, within a couple of years. Petty simply had to move his team to where the support is.

No doubt that whole sport is hurting. The TV coverage tries to hide it, but have you seen how many empty seats there are at NASCAR races these days? I can remember when those grandstands were packed no matter where the race was, now it looks like they close down whole sections. Your right, no wonder Dodge is pulling back, you can only spend so much cash, and their business is selling cars, not racing.

Yeah five years ago i tried to get tickets to the night race in Bristol, and was told the average waiting time for tickets to that venue was about 4-5 years. Now you can p/u tickets the week prior. I would really prefer to see NHRA racing live, but here in Canada, we don't get it live. Obviously Nascar has a larger fan base, than NHRA here, because TSN televises almost all 36 races live.

Yeah I guess I'm just a sucker for pretty much any motorsports involving cars with lots of get up and go. I'm still crossing my fingers that we will see a re-birth of the old Trans-Am series racing.....Now that racing was the best !:tup

Excellent idea re Trans Am series. I took my wife to a race in downtown Detroit when we were visiting from Calgary in the early 90's. I made sure to sit at the end of the front straight for all the action
