'10 vs '05-'09
 

I've seen a couple '10 cars from dealers creep into my price range ($20-high 20s)). Unfortunately they're in Calgary or Ottawa (and I'm in Toronto). So some of the savings, I'd be losing in travel. The dealers also have said that these cars are not rentals (apparently, they have to disclose this if asked) - but a couple are demos.

It got me thinking about whether I'd be better off getting a '10 GT vs and '05-'09 car. From what I've read, there is more than the cosmetic mods - the later cars have 15hp, and a few chassis changes?

Maybe it's a no-brainer, but from everyone's experience - (given the cosmetic changes don't sway me) would it be worth paying an extra $3K or so on an '10, or get an earlier car and put the money into tuning the car myself?

I would get the '05-'09 car myself.

1) Personally I really don't like the back end of the 10's. You can get that 15 hp with a non tuned CAI for starters.
2) If the '10 doesn't have the track pack then your not really looking at much of a suspension improvement.
3) Interior is nicer on the 10's though.

Obviously there are other factors, warranty? Condition of older car etc, etc. If you can find a winter stored '05-'09 I'd take that over the 2010 and dump the difference into mods. Especially if you're thinking of modding the car out anyways.
2010 + planned mods = 2005 to 2009 + SC :)

Exterior styling is better on the 05-09's in my opinion. Interior styling/options are better on the 2010s (but just barely).

The worst part of owning a 2010 is that everyone will be asking if you have the new 5.0L and you'll forever have to say, "No just the 4.6L".. Not saying it's a bad motor. But having the new styling with the old motor just seems like a bad buy. Pick one or the other. I dunno.

'05 to '09 - more likely to be out of warranty.

2010 - factory warranty, but more money for insurance, and given the quotes in your other thread, that's not what you need.

I prefer the 05-09 for styling but the 10+ are starting to grow on me. And what you save in the price of the car by not buying brand new could be dumped into mods instead of being spent on the whole extra 15hp of a 2010.

We can all say what we prefer,but it boils down to what you really want.
If i was in your shoes,2010+ is what i would go for.I love how the designers put the sharp lines back on the Mustang,the front is again aggressive looking,the rear is growing on me,they look alright when the stang is lowered to give it the look,and then there is that warranty.:tup
