17" ROH ZS

Just picked up a set of 4 bolt ROH ZS 17x8.5(front) and 17x9.5(rear), I am going to put on 275 40 17 out back and 245 45 17 up front, will I have any issues with rubbing? Still have Stock springs but I would like to drop about 1/2 an inch all the way around, which FRRP spring should I get?? A, B or C spring???

You may need to remove the quad shocks to run those out back, also a tailpipe adjustment may be neccessary to clear 'em. For springs, I'd go with the Bs.

Thanks Ponyryd...instead of removing the quads would I be able to fit them by flipping the "horizontal" quad to allow for more clearance? If so (pardon my ignorance) flipping quads can be done when the car is on a floor jack?

Ponyryd 07-11-2006 06:47 PM

Not very likely that you'd be able to "flip" the quads very easily, if you have aftermarket lowers, you don't need the quads anyway. I'd give it a try before doing anything, the offset may be just right to clear everything, but then you may need to trim the quarter lips.

Thanks again, found out the backspacing for the rims are 5.95, I'll give it a try...now trying to decide which tires to get??

Ponyryd 07-15-2006 10:17 PM

^My fav. tire is BFG, great design, treadwear, handling etc...the G-Force Sport is a very nice, affordable tire.

17x9.5 and 17x8.5...more questions w/ PICS

I test fit the rims because I needed the board's expertise if the rims I'm mounting with 275 40 17 (rear) and 245 45 17 (front) will fit. With the attached pics can anyone tell me if I'm going to need to mod anything, and hopefully not need to use a BFH, flip the quads or spacers??? I'm more concerned about the rear.

Those are the exact same rims I have on my car (size, widths, offets....etc). I run the 245/45/17 up front, with no issues what so ever. The back I run a 255/45/17, but a 275/40/17 would fit. Closest I am to anything is the tailpipes, but still have room for that. Depending on the tire you go with, you may have to roll the fender lips, the ROH ZS 9.5 inch rim fits snug to the outside, so you approach the fenderlip, but with the 255's on the 9.5" rim, it rolls the tire, and gives me oodles of clearance, I think a 275 would clear also in my opinion. I say get the tire, if it rubs, roll the fender, its not to tuff to do, and I even saw someone on this site is renting the services of their fender roller out. For what its worth I have the FRPP B springs, so this will give you a comparison.

Thank you Jumpy....I think I've seen your car, the black T-Top Gt right?? If it is, its one of the sweetest fox 5.0's I've seen!!! I will be going with the 275 40 17's, I wasn't looking forward to rolling the fender lips. Trying to minize any mods that are not reversible.

JuMPy 07-19-2006 08:17 PM

yup, thats my car.....thanks :4:

Its all going to depend on the tire, some tires are more square, those will bring the tire closer to the fender lip, rolling the lip is not hard, and its reversable in a not so impossible way.

I guess when you get the tires mounted you'll find out if rolling is required, either way, don't fear doing it
