1low was right
I do believe 1low was right (I agree with him 99.73% of the time tehehehe) when he stated Mustangs are becoming to pricey for the average fan. A couple of weeks ago a dealer brought a new 11 gt convert to our Wed night cruise in and the sticker showed a price of 51,500.00.
With next to nothing down the monthly payment would be approximately 900.00 per month for 5 years. To put that into perspective our first house we had built in late 1998 ran us 750.00 pit so the car is 15% more per month. When we moved to Windsor in 99 we purchased a house and pit ran roughly 600.00 per month so the Mustang now is 30%ish higher. Today I stopped in at Metro Ford and low and behold they had a new 11 GT500 (all black no stripes=hot) for a low low price of 64,500.00 plus the 3000.00 in taxes for a total of 67,500.00. That my friends is 18-19,000.00 more than I paid for a new 09 GT500 1 1/2 years ago. I will say the car does have 50 hp more and handles better but 18-19,000.00 worth, I am not sure the difference in money is worth it. Oh there is a Chev dealer north of Calgary (Airdrie) selling a new 10 Camaro SS loaded with the Boston Acoustic stereo and they are asking 43,000.00 which seems like more than fair. Is 1low right that Ford pricing is starting to get to the higher end of the pricing scale. I am starting to think that they are.:banghead: |

Trust me the prices will fall like a rock when they don't sell. Right now they are priced for the pants pissing male who just can't wait to pay too much for the new 5.0
|
I don't get it. At the ford.ca site I can do "Build and price" with the following;
Base GT Coup - $39,949 GT Brake Pkg - $1,700 Security Pkg - $350 Interrior Trim Pkg - $500 Heated Leather seats (incl with Interrior Trim Pkg) Next gen nav system - $2,300 Total MSRP= $44,749 Which has some very nice options! I'd skip the nav system myself but threw it in because maybe the dealer's had it in it. It looks like the dealer's out there are making some serious markups! I haven't priced one out here yet but it looks like they are trying to cash in big time with the new arrivals. |
i agree that's just waaay out to lunch.. idk why there seems to be so much markup on the 2011's.. maybe if someone tried to go in and order one, it might be cheaper if you can pry them a little?

Hence why I will wait a year or two and pick one up used with low milage just like I did with my 05. ;) Then again I do love my 05!! Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!! LOL

If I were to buy one Id weight a year anyways to see how they make out with the new 5.0, Im sure its gonna be a killer motOr but still, ya never know

Excellent deal on the '08. I paid the same amount for the '08 as the '05 and the '08 is a fully loaded vert. Financed the difference on the loss of the trade-in. |
Yea those prices sound INSANE. Prices like that might drive potential pony buyers right into the arms of a Camaro or Challenger salesman. I know it would for me .... it supposed to be bang for your buck. Now don't get me wrong, I love my Mustang and I love what Ford has been doing with the Mustang over the last few years, but with dealer prices hovering at $67,500.00 ($19,000.00 more than 2009 GT500's) - we'll that's when I start shopping for a 600 HP 2008 Dodge Viper with roughly 16,000 kms on it.

Man's got good taste in cars....gotta love that all black, no stripes combo.:tup Crazy pricing fo sho, reminds me of the same situation when the GT500's came out and the inflated prices. Smart bet is to wait - patience pays off. SNAKEBITE - you should be in jail dude, because for the price you paid for your GT500, you STOLE it !!!:D |
Nice to have someone agree with me most of the time...Not use to that! :?:D
That is the only thing i hate about dealers, they take advantage of all the "new" products, especially when it comes to the mustang. They know people want the new 5.0L cause they just got to have it,which feeds into this whole b.s for the dealers. Man that is a crazy hike in price. :Weird: |

The more I read threads like this the happier I am with my purchase, and not waiting for the 5.0. Although another 100hp would be nice!
But give it a year or two and they will come down/ offer better prices, the 05's were marked up for a while when they first came out. |
see that's why i'm waiting till i can trade off the Si on a newer GT or a new edge cobra, everything right now seems to be hiked up wwaaaaay too much.. :( but with the 2011's at that price, the 2010's will come down a fair bit (maybe enough for me to grab one? :D ) time will tell

If the prices stay up there, they are going to kill the mustang. At that price you are getting into the more high end cars which the stang doesn't campare to. The stang was supposed to be for the average joe and have the best bang for the buck, and in my opinion ford is lossing that.

Point in case: purchased my 05 GT used, with 16,000kms - paid $17,000 for it one year later. As someone else commented, the prices that Ford is demanding for a new GT500 is pushing it into competition with some very nice used (performance) vehicles in that price range (Corvettes, Vipers, etc.) along with pushing it past comparable new vehicles viewed as the competition (e.g. Camaro, Challenger). P.S. Of course there is the argument that the name "GT500" holds mystique for some that will continue to create the demand for the car, and therefore pricing is justified - to me, I'd jump at that price to get a used 'Vette moreso than shelling out the cash for Ford (all in my humble perspective, of course). |
ya way to much. The new 5.0 is killer and ther is so much hype for it which is why im sure their priced so high but still. And even other mustangs are priced so high right now cuz its summer thats why im waiting till winter to get mine
