2.5" Tubing vs 2.25" STOCK for V6s

With all this talk about loss of backpressure, and torque, I'm curious to see what others have noticed on their own cars in regards to purchasing a standard bolt on set up, and noticing a loss of torque off a stop sign or light when you first accelerate.

I'm sure it's easy to get a local muffler shop to make smaller pipes to match stock, but when you want your good old fashioned mechanic to install it with your help.. well it's hard locating a GT-take off exhaust with the new model mustangs all out (and ford racing ones are all 2.5"), and then trying to rig it up with new mufflers and tips without doing some Nation wide searching for that take-off.. and well a pipe bender for anything extra.

I'll tell you one thing.. I don't think I'll be planning a supercharger to justify a 2.5" exhaust set-up.. but if that's all that's out there.. I'm kind of stuck with a loss of torque.

not sure, maybe

I think I'll be sticking with 2.5" but I'll probably have to restrict the hell out of it to keep it quiet.

The 2.5 I had on there was crap after 6500rpm but felt good around town. My 3 inch gave me back so much more torque than an open dump without choking the top end up one bit.
