2000 Cobra R in Halifax?
I know there is a V6 around with a body kit pretending to be an "R".
But yesterday (Monday) I was pulling onto Robie street at the end nearest the MacKay Bridge (near the Subaru dealer) and what looked and sounded like a real one just about tore the nose off my car  By the time I got into traffic he was gone. On the way to work this morning I saw it again in roughly the same location, it has a yellow licence plate, but I saw it only from a distance. Has the "clone" had some work done? Is this "real"? Anyone know anything about this car? |
ha.....li....fax? :laughhard  best way to tell for sure is to get hime while stopped and get a closer look. it wouldnt be cheap to convert a v6 to R so im thinkin its real.

The V6 clone that's been running around has the facia, lower body work and the wing. Of course the single exhaust pipe sticking out the back ruins the affect.
This car looked significantly different, even though "technically" the same outward appearance. Anyone remember the old song by Trooper (I think that was the group) - "She's just a 3 dressed up as a 9" ? |
did the tailights have ambers for turn signals? if so then it is a true R
|
yeah ive seen the fake one before. chased him down as i thought it was real, but yerah the single exhaust gives it away. Never seen a real one before though, but i did see a real 93 Cobra! Seen him a few times in halifax and once at PPP.

There are only 3 true R's in Canada and 2 of them are owned by Tim Brown in Vancouver. Not sure where the other on is.

a couple weeks ago the guy who bought the one from Legendary Motor Car had it plated for Ontario, even managed to pass an emissions test... :tup

Either way the Cobra R is an awesome looking Stang!

It's a clone! But a good one :chacha:
On the way home from work today I came to the conclusion that, having seen the car in the same location twice in a row, the owner must live in that area. So I cruised a bit and found it quite easily. Head north on Robie toward the MacKay Bridge. When you pass the traffic lights near the "Greco Pizza" (the last set of lights before you reach the bridge), keep to the right and go up the hill. The car is parked on that street, whatever it's called  Anyhow I found it and parked. It is a full body kit, hood, wing and Cobra R wheels put onto a GT. The GT badges are still on the car. The owner poked his head out the window of his apartment and told me the car itself is an 01 GT. It looks very good :tup |

The R is an amazing car!
I never was up close and personal to one before this past weekend. Actually saw one on the track too - and it was full race ready too. Amazing machines! Funny story... earlier tonight I was waiting for my family to arrive to the restaurant and a guy sees my car and starts talking about how he had a Cobra R before... a (get this) blue 2001 model. hahahaha I wasn't sure what I should do... just nod my head or correct him. I figured since I'm about to go inside and he's still outside, I should just go with it if I want my car to be there afterwards. :) |
I saw the one at legendary in person. It was a great looking car, well worth the money if you ask me.
I hope to get the wing, splitter and hood done one of these days. |
