2007 mustang brakes
 

quick question , just picked up a 2007 pony package convertible , the brakes seem soft for the first bit. the vehicle was bought from a dealership and came safetied . any thoughts on whether this is normal or could i have an issue , ie . bleeding or pads or perhaps because it has been sitting could the pads be glazed ?

any thoughts or advice appreciated , enjoy the car otherwise , with the little i have driven it ( chatham to niagara )

I would certainly bleed them to start with, since it's not a very big job, or expense. Providing they did a proper safety on it, the pads should be ok. I'm guessing they need to be bled, or a possible issue with the booster.

will be sending it in to cousin jeff at morningstars on monday to have everything double checked , i always do. they filled it with gas and changed the oil so i am expecting everything to be on the up and up. could be that i am just not used to these brakes , i don't think so however. my first thought was having them bled . maybe i'll have the fluid changed and get a good bleeding done. thanks for the reply.

Bleeding the brakes is a good idea to start with, keep it simple, do the easy less costly things first.
Brake fluid has an affinity for water, so over time the fluid will breakdown and will boil at a lower temperatures. Flushing out the old and replacing it with new is cheap insurance agaist brake fade etc.
Be sure to use the recomended type of fluid. The higher the rated boiling point the better. Ford fluid is generally very good quality as they often have higher specs than others.

I will follow the maintenance schedule to a t with the 500, cost is not an issue.

x 2 - bleed the brakes. Let us know how ya make out.

I'll go with the majority on bleeding them to start with
