2010 + mods or 2012 as is? What would you do?

So after looking at many different options to modify the pony, now I have new dilemma! Do I want to buy cheaper 2009-2010 v6 which has 200 hp,and invest the rest of the $ in mods like exhaust and tuner,or I get newer model like the 2011-2012 which already has 300 hp and maybe upgrate it down the road.what would you do and why?

There may be more potential in the 3.7('11 and up), and it definitely responds well to mods. It's a screamer...likes the revs.

The 4.0 ('05-'10) is a proven engine, and it also responds well to mods, but doesn't breathe as well in the upper RPMs as the 3.7, so to get the most out of it usually requires some form of forced induction. It has a lower revving torquey feel.

Personally, I prefer the lower revving torquey nature of the 4.0, and the look of the '05-'09 cars. You would have to make some improvements to keep up with the newer 3.7 though, which I have done (and then some) with my '07 4.0.

Think about your driving style and what you will be using the car for...daily driver, weekend cruiser, occasional auto-x/track use, etc. One may be better suited than the other. Do you have a preference in looks between '05-'09 and '10-'14?

I have a 2005 V6 or 4.0L Mustang. It is 210 rwhp from the factory. With a few mods I have done it is now 269 rwhp and goes quite well.

I have also recently acquired a 2007 Mustang GT 4.6L. 300 rwhp from the factory and with a few mods it runs at about 340 rwhp.

The two models I have are a direct retro model of the 1969 Mustang which was the rage when I was 16. Either the 2005-2009 or 2011-2014 models depends on what style you prefer and or how much money you have in your kitty.

Roddy makes a few good points too.
