'68 GT/CS Mustang

Does anybody know the performance numbers for the powertrain that is in this car? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MakeTrack=true

odd lookin, i wouldnt expect much in the way of performance.

First of all, that car is NOT a Shelby. It is a 68 Mustang coupe with the California Special package. That was an appearance package only, using some of the Shelby cosmetics.

From the VIN, it is a "C" code engine, which is a 289 2-barrel. This engine was rated at 195 gross HP, and 288 lbs.-ft. torque. That's from my 68 Cougar showroom brochure, which shared this engine with the Mustang and a few other cars. Last year for the 289.

This car is not a performance car. It looks to be a nicely restored example of a classic Mustang with a fairly rare appearance option package.

Auction clearly states not a shelby, I was just curious what the 289 put out back then.

Yup, but I wanted to make sure you knew that. Your thread title is "'68 GT/CS Shelby Mustang". The seller has it in the listing title to get hits when people use Shelby as a search word. :)

In 1968, the only version of the 289 still available was the 2-barrel, as this car has. Earlier cars were available with the "A" code 225 hp 4-barrel, or the 271 hp Hi-Po 4-barrel. None of those cars were as quick as a Fox 5.0 EFI Mustang, or your 05 4.6 3V Mustang. Technology marches on.

Aside from the rims, it's a nice looking car and looks to be in decent condition.

I believe the wheels are part of the appearence of the California package. How you liking your '05?

For everything you would ever want to know about a Mustang CS go to their website
http://www.californiaspecial.com/
they could tell you if these were the wheels as delivered.
