Advice on shopping for new Mustang.

Hey Folks,

Moved over from Scotland last summer and its time to get my first ever Mustang at 36 years young. The wife kinda understands the real reason for the big move was so I could drive around in a mustang all summer. I just sooo want to make this happen but the pricings a bit steep at the moment for me.

I'm not having much luck with the dealers and looking for some advice, I had a 2013 v6 premium auto conv with MCA package priced and ready to order last week but im now told by another dealer they will only factory order 2014's, this is despite the a dealer fully specing and wanting to take my deposit for the 2013 factory order. just doesnt feel right.

I'm looking to stick 10k down and finance the rest over 5 years, as expected prices seem to have jumped big time on the 2014 with no rebates.

Any advice on how much i should be looking to take off this price on my next meeting with the dealer. heres the details they gave me.

base msrp - 35,399
freight - 1550
air tax - 100
trim charge (mca package?) - 1500
automatic - 1400

with the dealers saving this is listed as

base - $37,899

+ tax 4,926.87

brings the whole thing to around $42,000!!!

There are no incentives yet but there are very few 14's on dealer lots yet. Chances are if you order it by the time it gets here there should be something on them but there is no guarantee. It might be worth looking for a 13 that someone has in stock.

there is no new car worth the asking price, after all its only sheet metal.Do yourself a favor and look at a clean low mileage gently used car,you will get more bang for your buck:tup

Cheers for the replies, I hear you loud and clear on the new car just, have you been speaking to my wife :0)

Just wish i'd have been in position to order 13, would have been around 5k cheaper. I'm checking autotrader and ford stocks all the time but theres nothing really available in the spec i want. (the blue one is a non-starter for me)

Check out ford.ca, and you should be able to find something on on of the lots close to you.

I agree. I went to the dealer and found a 2013 with 9000k. California special. was a Ford exec car and saved over 14000. Sticker price was 46000 all in. I paid 32000

Check the used inventory online with the many local, and surrounding dealers in your area. You will be very suprised on what you may find.
For an example.... I got my current '06 F150 Super Cab 3 years old for less then half the price new, and full warranty switched to me with only 25,000 k's on her back in '08.
Deals are out there for these vehicles that are pretty much still new. Be patient, and you might see what you are looking for, or close to what you are looking for. :tup
