Aftermarket brakes
 
is anyone running an aftermarket brake system or upgrade on their stang? it doesn't matter what year i'd just like to hear your good/bad experiences.

Personally, I couldn't be bothered to run an aftermarket setup but many people do or have upgraded to the Cobra brakes.

I am running the BAER Eradispeed set-up on mine!!
Cobra Calipers up front with cross drilled/slotted 13 inch rotors
and 13.25 inch crossdrilled/slotted rotors and GT calipes.
Car stops great!!!

If you're considering brake upgrades for a Fox car, a good source for info is this page:

A consideration is what size wheels you want to run, this will affect what choice you can make for the braking system. The swap with SN95 Cobra parts can be done for a reasonable price, and will vastly improve the stopping power of a Fox car.

94-04 GT brakes are barely adequate. It's crazy, the 05 rear brakes are larger than my front brakes. An upgrade to at least Cobra/Mach brakes is a must IMO when the power level starts getting up there. Lucky for me I've always been easy on my brakes, haven't changed them yet.

the only problem I see with the cobra/bullitt brakes, is the pistons in the calipers are smaller than the ones in the GT brakes... you trade off less available force for more pad surface area.

94-98 rear stock are pathetic too. Pre-mature wear, you name it. What should a good upgrade cost for a 94-98? Rims are 24-27 offset so I can't go too big. I would just like the slotted rotors and flashy calipers.

Personally when it comes time, I am still on factory with my Mach1, but I will give this serious consideration when I am doing the new brakes on my Mach1.

I recall being at a car club's meeting and the cross drilled rotors from here were talked about. Sparked an interest.

I was looking at the meagre info on the site.. I get the impression that they are the same size as stock.

FWIW.. I'm not impressed with a business that, to get even an approximate price.. I gotta go through numerous emails (no phone number except a fax)..or place an order. Chrissakes.. put a price on the site.. with a note "price subject to change and current exchange rate"... I don't have time nor am I inclined to play that game.
