Article I found in in December issue of 5.0.
 

It's not even an article, more a question and answer section, but it did raise some concerns in my mind about the MT82 transmission;

Q: I just read your information on the new '11 5.0 engine. In the article, the MT82 Getrag transmission is said to have a torque rating of 375 lb-ft.
However,the coyote engines rated at 390 lb- ft of torque. What's going on?

A: We don't know Fords rationale for it's decision to use the MT82 Getrag manual transmission in 5.0 powered '11 Mustang GTs,but it's holding it's own
Under some considerable duress in a host of 10 and 11 second Mustangs.
It's still early in the new Stangs release, and thus far we haven't heard of any torque derived failures of their factory installed six speed gearboxes.
However,with the GTs actual torque rating (390 lb-ft ) and greater amounts produced BY ADDING BOLT- ONS,we don't doubt the MT82 COULD BECOME THE WEAK LINK in the '11 Mustang GT's drivetrain,when power making mods are made.
We've received intelligence on a rugged Magnum- series tranny coming from Tramac.
The new 6 speed trans will be a direct replacement for the '11 OEM transmissions,and should be available by the end of 2010.

So what I am understanding is that the stock transmission is pretty much at it's limits by being bolted up to the new 5.0 and additional bolt ons could essentially toast it up,thoughts on this guys! :banghead:

Fords been doing this for years.LOL! Always giving us a trans that "can't hold out" so to speak.
What will the 2012 Boss 302 have?That thing will be putting out more to the rear then the GT!!:?

Could they not have put in the GT500 6 speed and what are they rated to handle?

My point exactly, the GT500 apparently is putting out 550 hp and 500 tq, not positive on these numbers, but yeah why not at least offer it to a customer at time of order/sale.
They could just as easily tagged another $1000 for a stronger tranny option,offer customers choices and you'll be surprised how many will buy into them. :banghead:

Having owned a 95 SHO..I know first hand what happens..The tranny eats itself..you take it to a reputable tranny shop and they build it the way Ford should have! Paid more for the rebuild than I did the rest of the car!!

Makes me wonder how many Mustangs get bought and just plain driven, or how many get bought and get the add-ons to boost horsepower. You would think if Ford thought they could make money offering more choices they would, but I'll bet not as many buyers go for those extras as you would think.

Not so sure bro, I did some market research,specifically on Mustang aftermarket options, and from 95 up to 2009 that was a 1.7 B market; that's a whole lot of CAI, exhausts, body panels, and go fast bolt ons!!!
Ford could easily lock up the market share by selling Ford approved parts at competitive prices and warrant what they sell to the general public...
Mustangs as a whole are pretty much a performance oriented package, and this shows at the level of options out there.
Case in point;
The December issue of 5.0 has a ratio of ads to articles running a staggering 91% ad full color pages ... that's just HUGE!
Front page of the mag has some gorgeous black GT500 with wicked purple striping proclaiming
" 805 HP street LETHAL 9-second GT500",but the actual article is just a short lil write up.
it's pretty clear about the vast option market geared toward this particular car... WoW, just wow.

So, am I loving this ride? Hell YEAH... If it was sex I'd be saying this ride is like having a threesome with Angelina Jolie and Hallie Berry as they feed me chilled champagne and red sea caviar.LOL!
It's just plain ass sexy ride with gobs of power and handling,what's not to like!
I should have gotten one 20 freakin years ago,but at least now I am a proud owner of a TRUE 5.0 Mustang GT,and to that I say... Amen.:D

For the GTA peeps, are Mustang meets scheduled for the near future before old man winter sets in?

^^^me thinks they will be far and few at this point^^^ I find that dealerships are slowly bringing in more aftermarket type goods these days ie rims cai running boards s/cer's etc etc. A vast majority of guys and to a lesser extent women are impulse buyers and if the dealer has the parts in stock or on display, they are purchased. I know that when I go out shopping/hunting if the place of business I am in has a part in stock I will buy it, if not in I will not order it due to the wait time.
