Bogart Racing wheels/rims
Anyone have any information on these rims and why they could not be run on the street/strip?
The company says they are race only and should not be used on the street. Here is the faq's from the site: Why are Bogart Racing Wheels not intended for street use? Because we manufacture Bogart Racing Wheels for a specific application (racing), we remove as much mass (weight) as possible, while maintaining enough structural integrity to be sure that Bogart Racing Wheels will survive through their intended purpose. I have never had race only rims of any type so maybe some racers could pipe in and give an explanation. I understand the warning and I think it is because they could not stand the rigors of the average road like, pot holes, railway tracks, etc.. I could be wrong of course. Here is pic of what I would want on the Mach. I would need the 5 bolt but wanted to show the red insert on the 4 bolt as my car is red also. They come in gold, red , blue and black. Thanks EDIT: got my answer from one of the OSCA racers and I guess they are not strong enough for everyday use on the street. Here is what he wrote: We had a set that were only raced with that actually started to buckle. The bead would not hold and by the end of the track both rears would go completely flat! Thinl I will look elsewhere. Damn as I think they look really good with the red insert. |
why not just get some 15" welds with a 3/4" spacer so they clear the brakes?

From what I understand, they are not strong enough to withstand the cornering loads, or the potholes / bumps / lumps that a street-driven car will encounter. Having a full weight car wouldn't help either.
"Better safe than sorry" ... that expression could be true in this case. cheers Ed N. |

I've been told that Bogart will build to suit. They make road racing wheels as well so they know exactly what to do to build a stronger wheel. It'd probably take a phone call but I'm sure they'd build you the rim you want in a more suited material thickness/stronger construction if you wanted some street time.
I'd email or call to get a response from the source. |
