Brake Fluid
 

Hio Guys.
Just preping my 2010 GT equiped with standard brakes and was looking for advice on brake fluid. Last season, I used DOT 4 fdluid. Any point in moving to one of the racing fluids? Thanks for your help. Alan

I would say that the dot 4 should be fine if that's what the manufacturer suggests

The Motorcraft fluid is actually pretty decent stuff, a lot of racers use it. The formulation was changed a few years ago to improve its viscosity with relation to flow through the anti-lock system on the newer cars. I use it in my 95 SHO that gets tracked pretty hard, as does my friend with the 07 GT. I plan to use it in my 89 as well.

Just remember that the best brake fluid won't make up for having marginal brakes in the car ... depending on how hard you push, the base GT brakes mght get a bit squishy on track.

I thought so. The manufacturer recommends DOT 3 but this is for general road use. I put in DOT 4 for for the higher rating on boiling point. Others on the track use Racing Brake Fluid. I am a little worried about doing this and will probably stay with the DOT 4, unless someone thinks that there is a better way to go for the braking and the brake components. Thanks for your note. Yes. The Brembos and those great wheels you recommended Ed will be next season's investment. This years's budget had to go elsewhere.
Have you seen the new Boss 302? Got a quick glance at one last week. Beautiful.

New as in the 2013? Haven't seen one of those yet, no. Still lusting after the Comp Orange 2012 Boss sitting in the showroom at the dealership I work at. :P

Thepeople who did my suspension are suggesting a shelby brake upgrade at about $1540.00 (I have no reference to which one) and m-1007-dc1895 18x9.5 wheels.

Are you guys familiar with the brake kit (can you send me a link to look at) and the wheels too? What do you think? I don't think that I want to ask him since he is a Ford Dealer with the giant mark-up.
