The brake job

My neighbour and I started the Powerslot Rotor and Hawk Performance Pad install at 10:00 a.m. today. Everything was going fine until we tried to put the rear calipers together after painting them. We had a problem trying to screw the rear piston back into the caliper on both sides. Called Ford and they suggested that the rear calipers had seized. After trying to screw the rotors in for about an hour with a special piston turning tool we decided that new calipers were the answer. The calipers were only a mere $475.39:banghead: but the silver lining is I get $140.00 back when I return the used calipers. By 5.30 p.m. we had the rotors, calipers and pads installed. The rotors and pads were $854.82 plue $475.39 for the new rear Ford calipers for a total of $1330.21 - $140.00 for the returned used calipers.

When I picked up the new calipers the Ford Service Department suggested that the pistons might have seized as the mustang is not driven year round and if I am going to store the mustang in the winter that it would probably be helpful to change the brake fluid every spring. Something to think about.

After the install we ran the bedding procedure recommended by Hawk Performance and everything is running fine. Attached are some install pictures.

Yes it is but the powerslot rotors are an upgrade from the FORD OEM. I was o.k. with the price of the rotors and pads as I had budgeted for them. The new calipers on the back were an unexpected expense.
