Brakes
Why are Brembo's all that and a bag of chips? If you had to go out and buy a set how much would it cost? Are they that much better than the stockers on the Pony?
|
Uhhh Yeah comparing stock brakes to Brembo's is like comparing the the 4.6 to the new Coyote 5.0. imo.

So like 13.4 inches compared to 14? Brembos are bigger and slotted for more cooling. How many 4.6 lose cylinder #8 after a tune? How many blow there trany under the advertised HP?

^ there has been engine issues with some of the 5.0 and aftermarket tunes. Ford sent us a bulletin about it.
|
They are definitely better, and in the world of brakes that just means bigger and better cooled. Like anything though I think most of the price is just you paying for the Brembo name.
|
I must admit that I changed from stock to the Powerslot rotors for the slotted rotor look and the advertised better cooling system.
|
Doesn't have to be Brembos, but a near 4,000 lb. car with 12 or 13" rotors and dual-piston calipers isn't going to cut it for slowing down from higher speeds ... physics, the silent killer. Rotors need a certain amount of mass to be able to shed the heat that builds up, and the basic GT brakes won't do it for 500+ hp. The 14" rotors and 4-piston Brembos that come on the GT-500, Boss 302, and Track Pak GT are a good step up at a reasonable price. To swap those on to any other S197 car is about $1200 worth of parts, a good deal for premium brakes.
As an added note, the 2013 GT-500 with 650 hp is moving up to 6-piston Brembo calipers, with larger rotors, 15" I believe. cheers Ed |

Touchy touchy. Sorry dude, I'm just stating my opinion. I've had both the 4.6 and factory brakes, and the new 5.0 with the Brembo pack, and I'm only going by experience, so what do I know:LOL:

Whats up with the #8 cyl blowing??? Never heard of that one yet. As for the tranny, sorry man, I've seen several of the old tranny's on the 05-10 blow. I don't think tranny's were ever Fords forte. Anyway, I'm not putting your car down, or any other 4.6, just making a comparison. Sorry!

hmmmmm so I'am risking to blow a piston with a tune??Is that a real issue??Iam about ready to buy a tuner but hey if it means engine trouble,I just wont pull the trigger...
|
Hey Def67 I think he was just comparing the motors not the whole car lol

Heres a thread from another forum about it. I didnt read the whole thing. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...lure-tune.html |
Sorry not the best thread out there.......
Heres what AM Chris Ross had to say The problems, while serious, are so far and few that it's not a reason to panic. It's good for everyone to be aware of the risks, but that's it. We've tuned thousands of 2011 Mustangs here at Bama, and we've only heard of a two cases, where luckily the warranty claim was accepted, both times. I've seen maybe 5 or 6 others from a few different companies. That's a small amount for the huge amount of Mustangs running custom tunes. The buzz comes from every forum having 5 or 6 threads about the same thing. It looks like there's a lot more problems than their really is. Use good quality fuel at all times, and we've got you covered from there. All Bama tunes being distributed have taken every safety precaution possible from within the tune. Knock sensors are fully functional and the tunes are commanding a safe air/fuel ratio. There are an overwhelming amount of positive threads and dyno results out there - check those out! So I wouldnt worry too much about it. |

Sorry, just jealous I guess, LOL
I'm actually suprised you havnt heard about this with all the posting and researching that you seem to do. But ya, a bunch of the first tunes that bama and some others came out with were blowing the #8 cylander for some reason or other, sounds like at least bama has it figured. |
Hmm, sorry I brought it up, I'd hate too see you sell the grabber. I wouldnt worry about it too much though. Like that AM guy said, 6 or seven cars out of thousands that they have tuned is well under 1%. I'm scared to even tune my 4.6, cause I really dont know how my dealer is as far as tunes/ aftermarket stuff go.

Holy crap.....I'm more surprised than you that I haven't heard about this, because I did a ton of research on the Coyote engine before buying mine. I hate to say it but it's stuff like this that makes people switch to other brands. I am VERY pissed to say the VERY least. Next post might just be in the For Sale section:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Yes it's harsh, and hopefully it's just the frustration coming out, and hopefully I'll be over it tomorrow. Honestly if I knew that I couldn't tune it, I doubt that I would have bought it in the first place! But really why can't Ford just step up to the G'Damn plate for a change, and look after this transmission problem? That problem has nothing to do with the aftermarket.:banghead:

My opinion is you can't blame the manufacturer for aftermarket issues and if there are issues, the aftermarket guys should work it out and get it right. As far as the trans goes I agree but I personally have sold 5 of these cars with 0 issues. When people have problems they tend to plaster them all over the internet. There are way more cars without the issue than with. We also don't know how the problem cars have been driven.

I really hope you're right. I am literally getting a sick feeling in my stomach over all this. I just need to calm down, and wait until I get her out for the year, and see if any issues arise. In case the tranny issue does appear, are there any GOOD aftermarket tranny's out there for the 5.0?
|
D you will be fine, take a deep breath and relax lol
