Brakes - Adapter Brackets
Hi Guys.
My Mustang is a 2010 GT 4.6 TrakPak 1 with the stock brakes, Ford Racing Suspension and 20 inch wheels and Trak Pak differential. I was offered a set of brakes from a Corvette C6 Z-06 (6 piston) and wondered if anyone know of a kit or brackets to fit these onto my Mustang. Also, does anyone have 1st hand experience with upgrading to Brembos or equivalent and the relative costs involved? I am running my car on road courses like Tremblant, Calabogie and Watkins Glen and will need to get some real brakes (before it's too late!). Thanks. Alan |
FastEd might tell you the GT500 brake swap is fairly easy and cost effective. I hope someone else answers soon so come on guys help out the new member please and thanks

You're looking at about $1000 - $1200 roughly (not including labour) to do the GT-500 / Boss 302 Brembo brakes, probably the easiest bolt-on brake upgrade for the S197 cars.
Not aware of any adapter brackets for putting the Corvette calipers on. You would have to look at the piston sizing to see how it matches up with your master cylinder bore size, and the rest of the system. cheers Ed |
thanks Fast and +1

Thanks guys. I'll look into the Brembos. Rgds, Alan

Just make sure that the wheels you have are going to have enough spoke clearance for the beefy calipers. Even some 20" will not clear the Brembos.

Thanks Ed.
I'll check this out. Major consideration. Also, not a bad time to move from 19s to 18s since there is a better selection of 18 inch tires. The problem is finding an SVT dealer around here that knows his stuff. The last mod I made was the Ford racing suspension and I had to go to Granby Qc to find someone with some talent. Thanks Ed |
What about the 18x10" D-Force wheels from Vorshlag, didn't you have set of those on order? IMO those are a great answer for someone looking to do track days in an S197. Other than that, the 2010 GT-500 vert wheels available from FRPP are a good deal too, just quite a bit heavier than the D-Force wheels.
cheers Ed |
