Brakes - slotted or drilled or both?

Its time for new brakes. I was wondering if anyone has input on what is best. I have read some warnings that slotted and drilled rotors can make a noise as wind passes by. Also, they now have dimpled instead of drilled. Any problems that you may have experienced or makes to avoid?

If you are looking for track brakes, you would be well advised to stay away from slotted/drilled rotors as they can crack easier than the oem rotor, that is unless you are going with something like stoptech or other racing brake upgrade. If you are looking for street use, then take your pick, but IMO an oem style rotor with an upgraded pad such as the Hawk HPS will give you the best stopping power for the buck.

most reliable upgrade would be better pads and HPS pads are great. HP+ are better on the track but make more noise and brake dust. I've never tried slotted or drilled so I can't speak for them but I heard that drilled crack before slotted so if you upgrade the pads and aren't satisfied, I'd go slotted first.

I tried powerslot....the first time on the track I cracked one and went back to oem.

thanks for the info! I was considering trying slotted when I have to replace. I think brake cooling ducts would probably be a much better upgrade anyway

Both of which are excellent brake upgrades.
