Cai

As I do not put the pedal to the metal is it worth spending the 3-400.00 on a CAI? Do CAI's work at low speed ie 40k's and you hammer the gas and you will notice a difference or are they better for 100 k's and hammer the gas?

All my experience with them is with trucks but it seems like you need exhaust, cold air and a tune to see real noticeable gains and most of the power comes at high rpm. If I remember correctly you've got Magnaflows so I think a cold air would work nicely with it especially with a tune.

CAI seems so ricer and gay. Go for it!

LOL

But seriously, for the money do you really get that great of gains?

Techmotion in Calgary told me the GT500's pick up 40hp at the motor with a simple CAI. I forgot to ask if this helps at the low end or just high end.

I have the following set up; MAC CAI, Brenspeed Tune and a dual Magnaflow exhaust and have lots of power at the low end and high end.

MAC CAI $264.00 (Canadian)

Brenspeed Tuner $450.00

Dual Magnaflow Exhaust #16605 $835.00 Installed.

Total $1549.00 and lots of power.

my friend was debating, whether or not to put one on his car, he has an automatic mitsubishi lancer, and he was told that a short ram intake would be better because it performs more efficiently at lower rpms
I dont know if that would help you, but i dont know much about that stuff.... yet

I did read an article in fast fords that stated with a BBK 62mm throttle body the 500 picked up about 16 RWHP if memory serves me. So if you add a CAI + this BBK TB I bet you will see at least a 56 RWHP gain. Just with the TB and no tune. I'll see if I can find the article online.

Here it is:
