Can i adjust my clutch?
 

1996 5spd. v6.

The clutch has almost 0 play, ie. i depress the clutch 2-3 inches and it's already almost disconnected the drivetrain.

Is there a way i can adjust it so there is more "play" in the clutch? can i get it so that the clutch starts to engage with a couple more inches of clutch pedel depression?

I'm afraid that it's going to start to engage the clutch when the pedal is out all the way, thus "slipping" the clutch and ruining it in a hurry.

Is there anyway this can be adjusted? or do i need a new clutch??

An adjustable cable, multi-hook quadrant, firewall adjuster or all of the above used together can help you do just that.

I'm also very picky about my clutch engagement point-- every few months I'll adjust the pedal just slightly to keep it at the same position as the clutch wears down.

ok, i'll have to take a peek, i know on my dump truck i can adjust the clutch to whatever i want, i didn't know if the same can be done for our 5 spds.

unless you have instaled an adjustable clutch quadrent than the only way you might adjust it would be to pull up on the clutch pedle then depress it if it click's then it was out of adjustment if not you will likely need a new clutch

how hard should it be to lift and make it click. I have a new clutch and it has never clicked when i lift the pedal.

Not hard, I just lift it with the top of my shoe. How long has it been in there? They probably set it when it was installed, if you're not sure, you can pull off the cover on the bellhousing, disconnect the cable and move it in and out to release the mechanism, then re-connect it and lift the pedal-if it still doesn't click, the adjuster likely needs to be replaced.

damn...sounds like i'll be needing a new clutch come next spring... thx guys..

any suggestions for a 1996 v6 standard, not planning on running any power adders, but planning on takeing it down the strip a couple days a year. And driving it "hard" when the mood catches me right

any suggested makes or models of clutches??
