Changing Gear Ratio on 2015 GT without losing warranty
 

Hi All,

I made the big mistake of ordering a new GT auto with 3.15 gears instead of the 3.55's.

I've had my GT for about a week now and I have to say while of course it's a fast and exciting car (compared to the average car) I just don't feel that V8 power when it comes to acceleration and feel like anyone in a turbo v6 Altima will beat me.... sounds childish but a true concern of mine haha.

I was wondering if there is any way of changing to 3.55 gears without losing warranty on the car and if people actually recommend going down that route (removing stock gears on a new car)?

I did 0-100 times and the best I was able to get was 5.6 seconds from a couple of attempts (however I see online that a GT auto with stock tires and 3.15 gears should be getting 4.5 seconds...on car and driver .com) so maybe it's something to do with the particular car I have.

Speak with your dealer/tech. I'm sure they can help. Every dealer is different. So you never know.

Use Ford parts and Ford technicians to do the installation maybe? Its got to be hard for them to argue against you if you're using factory parts and factory techs.

They can only deny warranty if something related to what you changed fails. So if you blow your motor you'll be ok still. If the gears wine really loud or a cv joint fails in the rear, they could deny it.

what def said. Putting in gears will only void the warranty on the gears themselves...nothing else.

and go with 4:10s you wont regret it.

Find the right dealer (preferably an authorized Ford Racing supplier) and they will help you out. If the work is done at a Ford dealer using Ford parts, they won't deny your warranty. I'm with 07procharger...don't fear the gear. Go 3.73 or 4.10. You will also have to get them to adjust your calibration in the computer so your speedometer reads right after the swap (if you don't have a tuner already).
