changing out a shifter

Hi All

Looking to changing my shifter to a short throw as the stock shifter in my 2011 GT is..... Well a bit disappointing! I'm leaning towards the Ford racing shifter but I’m open to other options. I was wondering if anyone has done the change over and how difficult is it to do or maybe someone has a better idea.

Thanks

Don't know about the 2011, but I used to have an '06 GT, and the OEM shifter was terrible, sloppy as a drunken bar wh0re at closing time.

One of the first mods I ever did was to upgrade to a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, which was good, but given all the success since then that I've had with Ford Performance parts, I'd buy them with no hesitation.

Can't say about the installation, I paid to have mine installed, but I don't think you'll regret buying a Ford Performance short throw.

I believe the Ford Racing shifter is made by Barton. I had a Barton in my 2012 Boss 302 and it was fantastic. Install is a pain as you have to get underneath the car.

I am thinking of doing my '08 GT. I was looking at MGW shifters. They seem to have a good reputation. Regardless if you buy theirs or not check out the installation video on their website, it shows how to do the conversion and tells you all the tools you need.

IMO, all that is needed is a Blowfish shifter support bracket. Install is from underneath the car, is very simple (especially with a lift) and includes a drive shaft hoop. I was experiencing 2-3 nibble and 2-3 lock out at high rpm. Have never missed a shift since install and the 2-3 nibble is gone.
