Cobra Clutch

I'm most likely going to need a new clutch soon... what's a good brand with a similar feel to the stock Cobra one but will handle 450rwhp?

I would say a Centerforce has the best feel/holding power, Ram clutches are also nice but higher pedal effort. I would upgrade to the 11" unit for '03-'04 Cobras, it'd be better for you in the long run and if you're interested I know where you can get the flywheel for that clutch for $100.

Are the 03/04s the light weight ones?

And a higher pedal effort wouldn't be good, my left knee is already messed up.

Yes, the '03-'04 have a lightweigt alum. flywheel, but the pressure plate on the '03-'04 Cobras has more clamping power then the '01 Cobras and the Mach 1s. If I were you, running that kind of power, I'd get the 11" flywheel (alum. if you can afford one) and run a Centerforce clutch, with it, you can look around for clutches and see if any of the other names (Zoom, Spec, FRPP, etc...) have any clutches with low pedal effort and high clamping force. The $100 flywheel is a steel one.
Btw, I saw your car the other day..........lookin' good man. :teeth:

I'll keep this all in mind, just need to see how far this clutch can get me. It seems fine so far but I haven't really launched the car, and I mostly just roast the tires instead so that's a good sign.

You saw it, but did you hear it...? :teeth:

Once you get a few runs on a stock clutch (unless it's already upgraded) with that power, it will be overheated fast and start to slip, you'll need to wait like an hour to cool it off after every 3-4 runs.

Nope, just saw it, going opposite ways on E.C. Row, looks good lowered. :

From what I was told when I put in my new clutch a couple months back the King Cobra clutch is less expensive then the centerforce and it is similar. i think i paid around 380 for the king cobra and the centerforce was closer to 500 with everything.

I am happy with the king cobra

Thanks.

I don't want to keep driving it without being fully tuned but I've had no choice if I wanted to get to work. It's going on the rollers Saturday morning...

I also got some new shocks and struts, these should help the wheel hop.

I'm fairly sure it's the stock clutch, it might even be the original one just like everything else on the car. 3-4 runs is hopefully all I need to be satisfied :teeth:
