cold air intake

done lots of reading not sure if this cai works got a 2015 mustang V6 stick, check this youtube article out with jay Leno and Ford chief engineer and he says in new cars no difference, on you tube look around 4.42 into youtube and that's when explained , any thoughts as maybe just a k&n filter is good enough for $60 or $600 for a k&n cai to get to me in Toronto Canada

here is clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...K4rR7Sw#t=266s

From watching the video it sounds like no change is necessary.

There is a very informative article with the numbers comparing Stock versus Cold Air Intakes for V6 Mustangs over at Mustang Evolution. You can read this here:

Cold Air Intake vs. Stock Intake: Quantitative Testing - Mustang Evolution

I can tell you from personal experience that all the CAI did by itself for my V6 was change the sound of the car. I bought the Airaid CAI and inTune Tuner from AM. As I said, the CAI gave no noticeable improvement in power but the sound with it changed to pure music under hard acceleration and it also looks fantastic under the hood. The CAI by itself was somewhere in the $300.00 US range. The question there is, was the expense worth the awesome sound? No and if I were to do it again I probably wouldn't buy it but when the tune was added it was definitely noticeable. I don't know what the numbers are but I can tell you that the addition of the tune made it a completely different animal. You can feel the power increase from the seat of your pants. I haven't tried the Stock Air Box with the tune but I have been thinking about it as the Stock airbox already draws cool air in from ahead of the radiator. Also Airaid has started selling a Modular intake tube that removes the resonance chamber on your stock tube so I think you would still have the sound improvement and be able to use your stock airbox.

The Ford Engineer is right though in saying that the engine will not draw in additional air by itself so the CAI is not needed. However if you do something like add Forced Induction or increase the throttle body diameter then you would require a larger filter to take advantage of the increased engine demand for air. Anyway the guys at the link above provide the most informed information I've read anywher on the subject. Hope it helps.

The bottom line is CAI By itself = 0, CAI and Tune = WOW!!!
