Dead battery - transmission locked

The battery went dead in my 2006 GT last night. I do drive it in the winter but only on dry days. obviously this winter there has not been too many of those so it has been about 3 weeks since i drove it. anyway the battery was dead and i wanted to move the car back to get at the battery but the auto transmission would not engage. I turned the key on etc. Is there something i am missing?

I am guessing the new cars with their brake inter-lock are electronic. Meaning you need to put your foot on the brake and the brake sends a signal to the tranny. Without power this might not be happening.

Can you use battery jumper cables from a battery at the side to the car's battery?

I agree with Paul.As long as you can reach the hood latch, your good.Since the battery is behind the strut, infront of the firewall, you will need to take it out from the side anyways.

dead battery

The transmission would not unlock even with the normal foot on the brake and the key lock turned. I was able to crawl across the engine and put the charger on.

the next problem i have is now the window does not automatically seal back up when the door is closed. any idea on how to reset this?

Once the battery is charged it should so up. I always pull the battery and put it on my CTEK charger. Leaving Cottam tomorrow for the frozen west, dammit

Just put the window down then back up with the door closed and it will reset.

I found it - hold the window switch in the upright position until it seats up and hold it for 2 seconds and it will reset.

Your manual for the car tells you how to do the window reset. There is also a TSB.

Do a google search for this TSB.

TSB 06-22-18 or follow this link and go to the last post on the page.

Hope this helps
