Do I have to change suspension?
 

Hi

I have a 06 Mustang GT convertible. The most annoying thing so far to me is its stability. I am not even an experienced driver, or a racer or something like that. Just normal day to day driving. But I still feel it's quite not comfortable. It's not stick to the ground.

If I want to have the feel like a BMW (I don't want a BMW because it looks too normal) grab onto the road. What shall I do?

And the rotors and brakes in the rear looks too small. Can I move the front set to the back and get a new set for the front?

Before anyone answers. There are few things that should be addressed:

- Is the car driven everyday? If so, is it driven in the winter?
- Budget?? How much are you looking to spend?
- Mechanical experience? Do you have any? Or will you be having everything installed?

Different springs and shocks will change the feel, but I doubt that you will get it like a BMW. Bilstein, Koni, Eibach, Tokico all have products for the 05-up cars.

Best bang for the buck upgrade on the brakes would be the 07-up Shelby GT-500 stuff. It can be bought for around $1000, that is 14" front rotors with Brembo calipers, and upgraded pads for the rear. Baer and Steeda offer larger rear brakes as an appearance upgrade, they wouldn't make much difference for braking performance though. The Shelby brakes require at least 18" wheels, and not all of those will clear. The Mustang GT 18" wheels need spacers to clear the 14" brakes.

1. Yes, almost everyday, including winter (plan to but don't have to be everyday in winter). I am assume you want to know how low I want to be. The answer is a bit lower than stock. Just to look better.

2. I can spend 5k to 10k on the whole modification, but I don't need top good stuff. I don't race at all, just for day to day driving.

3. No experienc at all, and I am going to get a Mustang shop do it for me, such as this:DaSilva Racing Your Ford Mustang Toy Store, just close to me. I live in Richmond Hill, GTA. But I want to know what shall be done for I barely know anything about cars.

If you follow what Fast Ed says, you'll be fine. He knows what he's talking about.

Mine wheels are 18". I want the brakes looks better as well as performans better (the stock ones are too soft, again BMW's good).

In fact, I just took a look at the Shelby one this morning while I was in the dealership. The rear brakes on Shelby are still look small, almost no different from the apperance from the GT.

Actually I am also considering trade in this car to get a GT500. Does anyone tried GT500? Is it a lot more stable than GT?

You don't think so, comparing to the front? Mine is exactly like this. I painted it in red too. I want it looks like the front one.

BTW, I know nothing about the mechanical stuffs, just apperance. Oh, I mean the calipers.

You really don't need huge calipers on the rear, because the front does most of the braking.

I believe you. Then can I just put on a big caliper to make it look better?
