Exhaust.....

I currently am looking at a SLP Loudmouth cat back.

Do you think it would be to loud since im now running Long tube headers, and a prochamber mid section?

94STANGR 09-30-2007 07:24 PM

who cares how loud it is? well besides the cops anyways.. lol

are you planning on running cats or no?

Ponyryd 10-01-2007 08:51 PM

Yes, it will be too loud, they are loud with cats!! They also sound like crap IMO. I guess it depends what you want, if you're looking for ear-splitting noise, get 'em, there are many other good sounding exhausts on the market.

Stang Illusions 5.0L 10-03-2007 12:05 AM

I plan on buying a Catted H-Pipe (ONLY for e-tests)
What cat back would go nice with the prochamber?

Ponyryd 10-03-2007 07:16 PM

Why not run cats all the time? it's a bit quieter but there's hardly any power loss at all. Some good exhaust companies are Magnaflow, Bassani, Borla, Pypes, IMCO, etc.... there are many, all will sound good w/the ProChamber.

Go Borla with the prochamber. I had that setup when I had my '01 GT. Sounded awesome.

will sound completely different with a pushrod 5.0L in comparison to your 4.6 OHC

StealthGT 01-11-2008 08:09 AM

Keith, put on the mufflers i gave you. and just see if you like it. remember, my car was a 200hp slug so they will sounds more agressive on yours with the amount of air your capalble of moving. and your headers and midpipe will complement it better to

Borla is wicked pricey but also insanely high quality!!! Good choice.

I'm going Magnaflow on mine. SLP sounds to "barky" to me too (agreeing with Ponyryd for once ;) LOL!), not my cup of tea.

Everyone's taste is different in this department. I loved the sound of my 40-series flows on the purple car, but I've heard the Magnaflows since then and I really like them too. They also don't have the insane 2,000RPM drone that the flowmasters have..... Which can be a nuisance at times. MAC also sounds awesome, U-LOSE has it on his car (or at least he did, not 100% sure that's still what's on there) and it sounds incredible.

Maybe find some sound clips and take a listen, see which you like best? After all, you are going to be the one living with it :)

The Magnaflows sound great on by V6, I can only imagine what they would sound like on a V8. $835.00 installed.

I would really like to try the SLP loudmouth, I love LOUD snappy exhaust ;)

nickm50 01-21-2008 02:42 PM

have you thought about corsa? They have that snappy sound you appear to be looking for. They are also loud.

Stang Illusions 5.0L 01-21-2008 02:43 PM

Never herd of it B4...

ive got dyno vids of my buddies 03 cobra, with slp long tubes-x-pipe and loud mouth exhaust,,easily the loudest car ive heard lol, ive got catted x pipe and magna packs, and if we are beside each other all i can hear is his car its nuts,

Nate_V6 06-18-2008 10:57 PM

magnaflows are ricey on a v6 above 2500 rpms. slps LM2 are very loud and throaty and raspy but with LTs no cats or high flows, they will make you your pants a mile away its so loud!, and LM1s (or vice versa, cant remember which) arent as loud and have more character then a loud ass throaty roar. im persoannly just gonna go with LTs, high flows, h-pipe and no mufflers. hopefully its gonna be loud and sound good...and then i dont get an annoying drone :D

Ricey...speak for yourself.

Nate_V6 06-18-2008 11:33 PM

yea well i went through every video clip on 3.8mustang and there is alot, and the mags sound ricey, the flows sound good untill higher rpm. and unless they sound like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t45WWwCvjMY (which you can still tell its a v6) the macs are best and cheapest, $475.

Ray Spencer 06-18-2008 11:41 PM

yea well I have the dual Magnaflow exhaust. Sounds quite different when you stand behind the car and hear them in person. The video clip does not do the sound any justice.
