Full 2004 swap into a 1997?

Hello again boys and girls!
Haven't wanted to post anything about the car situation for a while as it just depresses me.
I got a New Edge with a salvage title and multiple vin numbers in early Dec. Got it inspected and plated, was driving to BC for holidays and got hit! Car is beyond salvage this time.

All the drivetrain is fine as it was hit in the back and passenger side and I do still have my 97 GT that needs an engine and some floor repair that can be corrected with a good set of weld in subframe connectors.

I've tried to do some searching online about having the traction control and the fuel system swap over.

What I guess Im asking is should I just drop the front crossmember, Strip all the wiring, Dash, Leather interior, fuel system, and rear diff and put it all together? I know its a lot of work but will it all bolt up and play nice?
Should I just buy a v6 1999 to 2004 and swap? Im not sure what the hell to think.

Mustangs and me seem to go together and make a clusterfuck of epic proportions!

Got nothing for you , but sorry to hear about your misfortune.

I guess it depends on your budget. If this is just going to nickel and dime you to death by becoming a money pit. Just sell it all and buy yourself a running project.

Just my 2 cents worth. :dunno

I agree, unless your into not actually driving anywhere for the year or so it will take to get the swap done. Unless you're really good at that type of thing and have a really good set of tools and shop.

Why not just swap the engine into your car? You might need a little wiring for the PI intake but it should be a direct swap. I don't think it would be worth all of that hassle to gain traction control.

Well Ive made up my mind. I am going to do the full swap. The body on the 97 is in fair shape but its got some issues with the wiring (antitheft crap) so I may as well take it on as a project. I cant see it costing me a huge amount as I have the complete doner car. Yes it will cost me time but that seems to be something I have a lot of.

Man this would be a fun, and easy project. Go for it! Everything will just plug/bolt in. You swapping the pcm over too? I would, and keep the coil over plugs aswell, but if you are planning a full harness swap, you will be. You'll need the cluster too I believe to go with the pcm for he accurate K's.

This would be the perfect time to make that 97 super clean... withing your budget that is.

Any progress on it yet?

No progress as of yet. I need a garage to do the swap in and am still looking for one. Just got the new edge back to my house as it was in BC and I'm in Calgary. Insurance paid for the tow but it took a while. Meanwhile I have a new to me Explorer that I now have as a daily driver... Nice to drive but what a pig on fuel!
