Future modifications

I'm thinking of doing some pretty serious modifications, with in 12 months from now. Primairly I have a faily stock 5.0, right now I have BBK headers full magnaflow exhaust, MSD ignition and a MAC CAI. However I want to supercharge. I have been looking at a few companies incluing paxton, vortec and ATI. I was wondering what I can expect out of my 5.0 if i decided to supercharge, Im looking at a system where I can get about 9-12 psi out of it. Its this a possibily on stock 5.0 internals. Is anyone else here supercharged, can you tell me what you guys did to compemsate for the extra power. Frame connectors? Is the Stock T-5 trans durable enough? and What kind of hp/tq numbers can i expect alos with 1/4 mies times. I know it will vary per system however im just looking for a general overview. Thanks.

I would start with Heads/Cam/ then upper/lower intakes, and larger throttle body then proceed to do the fallowing....

Be smart and go ATI Procharger comes with intercooler.
Your T-5 should be way strong enough.
Say good bye to your Mac CAI.
You should be around 400-500RWHP my guess could be wrong.
Keep in mind when doing a S/Ced Application you will also need 42# injectors, MAF, a tune, Etc......

Good luck

now i know this is a different ball game seeing mine is 4.6.

but everything will probably snowball on you.

As keith said you will need the bigger injectors, and maf to go with them.

But i figured with more power i should upgrade the clutch. so you might want/need to as well.

Also you will need a bigger fuel pump. i know there is lots but you get the gest of it.

i don't know what the 91 comes with piston, but the block will only hold 550 at the most.

but if you was to go just a i/c supercharger, i think 350-400 would be easy.

now if you was to go H/C/I and a S/C that would get you high 400's.

That is just my opinion though.

I'm sure ponyryd or scones and the rest of the 5.0 guys will chime in and let you know more than me

I played the Bolton game with my last two Mustangs... Never again, just go out and get the Supercharger and supporting iteams (injectors etc.) best bang for your buck and fairly easy to install (been involved in more than a few now)

As for the supercharger it's really and all around fair game, my brother got a great deal on a Vortech S trim and went with that, great blower and put out a ton of power. that would be my choice as well.

As for power i really depends on the car, i know my bother put out around 335 ish (mustang Dyno) if i can remember right, he was running low 13's as well.

If you want cheep HP.....

Aluminium Drive Shaft
Under drive pullies
4.10:1 rear end gears
Clean you MAF with brake clean could give you another 50hp "If its dirty, and hasn't been cleaned."

I'm sure StealthGT can chime in and tell you his story of a before (dirty), and after (Clean) cleaning his MAF right on the dyno!!! ;)

And if you really wanna wake it up put a 150 Shot of Dry NOS to her.
This should put you in the high 12's low 13's on slicks.
I hope this info helps!

Again good luck on future build.

Low 13's... Are you sure. Because I run 13.0 in the 1/4 with the modifications that I have. Actually it s possible, I have my suspension set up for drag racing, and 3.73 gears.

depends where you are (elevation) here a stock 5.0 with minor bolt on's (exhuast/gears/mass air) run low 14's

My car runs 13.6's and i beat up on most head/cam/intake/exhuast/gear 5.0's.

I like alot of the kits these companies come out with, especially the ATI procharger since it comes with an intercooler. However im leaning more toward the Kennie bell roots style supercharger for the 5.0.
