Gas mileage
 

My 01 Bullitt has 95,000km on it and ive had it for about 6 months now.
I usually drive it like i stole it and get around 280km per tank with mixed highway and city. I recently ran into a few unforseen expenses so i decided to baby my car for a full tank of gas and see how many km i get. Driving like a grampa 90% of the time only allowed me to get 300km per tank!? Do these numbers seem close to what most of you get? And should i see a bigger increase than 20km? Im wondering if ther is something not quite right...

It depends on what type of driving you are doing. If it's all in town 20km can be quite a few little trips. On the highway you should see a much bigger difference than that though. I guess that means have fun with it and drive it like you stole it.

Sounds about right! Just like ChadStang stated,you would see better highway driving.

This might be a reference. I drove a 2012 Mustang GT from Vancouver, BC to Canmore Alberta and held statistics. While most of the driving was on highway, had plenty of sprints passing semi-trucks and pushing the limits of the 5.0 beast. I went 907km spending 92lt of gas which is about 1,5 tank.

Another day I was testing a 2012 Mustang V6 in a mostly city drive which averaged 447km spending 63lt gas by driving like crazy in sport mood.

Both numbers are accurate as I was intentionally testing both V6 and GT, comparing them to decide which one to buy in the near future.

I'm old school with mpg...never really understood the kms per tank because it all depends on the size of the tank.

I'm getting 25-26 mpg with mixed city/highway driving in my 2011 GT. Living out in the country I'd say most of it is country driving at 80 km/hr ....well....okay, a tad bit faster than that. That's the same mpg I get in my '02 Concorde with the 3.5ltr engine. :tup to the coyote!

I got 28.2 mpg with mine on the highway and roughly 15-16 mpg in the city, oh driving like grandpa. That means approx 770k's on the highway and 425k's in the city.

The tank sizes of the 2012 Mustangs I tested were all 61 lt. My numbers would make more sense knowing the tank size ofcourse..

But Im curious about one thing, I am new to this forum and I thought in Canada the gas mileage was calculated like in Europe, (liters/100km) am I wrong? I don't understand any of the mpgs written here =) I didnt see any mpgs in gas stations in BC and the only mpg I saw in a Canadian dealership brochure was even different than American mpg that I just ended up getting more confused. (once understood the conversion from american mpg to Canadian Liters/100km) Can someone explain how should I discuss gas mileage in Canada?

MPG is a little more confusing when discussing American or Canadian gallons. The American gallon is about 3.8 liters and the Canadian gallon is 4.54 litres (yes we even spell it differently) On a recent road trip to L.A. via Route 66 I could get over 600 kms to a tank on the highway and as little as 400 kms. all city driving. There are a lot of variables.

Thank you for explaining. So Canadians use generally mpg or lt/100km ? If you use miles and gallons like americans (but with different calculations) why im seeing litres on the gas stations while filling the tank? Even the cars here have gauges in km like Europe !

Since Canada switched to metric all our gas is sold in litres and our distances in kilometres, so Canada states gas consumption as L/100km ( which I think is stupid) I'm old school or just plain old and I still relate to miles per gallon.
