Gauge Install...Need some help
 

Alright ladies and gents, I have some gauges coming and I need some preliminary info so I can get these installed with minimal hassle and less cussing. :)

The first two gauges are the Air/Fuel (the light show) and the Water Temp. Both Autometer and both electrical.

In my old vehicle, I tapped into the O2 sensor for the Air/Fuel. Is this still the optimal position to tap?

Where would I connect and/or tap into for the water temp? Will I need to use the autometer sending unit or can I tap into the existing?

For the coolant temp, there's a drain plug at the back of the block, drivers side by the mount. After draining coolant, take the plug out and put in the sender. Refill coolant.

As for the AF, you can connect it to a wire at the PCM, I can't remember which. maybe someone else will.

well your o2 sensor will actually be a bad place to try and get air/fuel readings. the factorys sensors are not very accurate and they stop reading after 3000RPM. get another bung installed and a nice bosch sensor and you'll be good to go :)

Most factory sensors are Bosch units and are just as accurate.

Factory 02 sensors are narrow band and are 100% no indication of your air fuel. They can tell you if you are on the rich or lean side of 14.64 but if your voltage drops or your sensors start to wear out the readings will be off.

Your 02 sensors are used only during close loop fuel control, which is below a throttle position of 555 (basically once you go WOT) and work light and part throttle all the way to redline
