That makes two us.

1low03gt 02-13-2013 09:04 PM

This year i am in no rush. Might be different once the weather really warms up. We've had a good hit of snow last friday, so everything feels as it should right now, winter LOL!

ChadStang 02-13-2013 09:05 PM

Agreed guys. This has been the longest winter ever.

1low03gt 02-21-2013 08:09 PM

For some odd reason, i am in no rush to get the stang out. Usually i get the itch by now, and go in the garage to do a little detailing to get me threw, and i haven't even looked at it in a while now.

That's why, go out and look at it. You will get the itch.

VAEM 02-23-2013 06:59 PM

^^^ I should do the same. I do look at the battery charger once in a while.

1low03gt 02-23-2013 07:30 PM

I know, it's sad, but i feel i need a break from it to be honest. To tell you guys the truth, a few weeks ago, i had a few guys coming to look at it as i posted it up for sale in the Auto Trader, and KIJIJI. Had a lot of interest, but by the end of the first week i could not go threw with it. When two different guys were coming on that weekend, it hit me!!
So i am keeping the GT, but i might let it sit for a bit. Been doing this hot rodding thing since i was 18 with no break, it was one car/truck that i was toying with after another. I am now 39. Doesn't seem like a long time, but it is when spending all your free time modifying, detailing, going to shows, and drag days, ects. I literally have not stopped at all. I could feel myself changing the last few years about the hobby.
So if i can't sell the GT, that's a good sign, that means i still have it in my heart! So i will do the next thing, take a nice break for the summer, and just give my family , and kids 100% of my time instead of 60% to 70% of my time.
The GT is there in the garage, and i will spend a few hours here, and there threw the season giving it a coat of wax to keep my interest in it..... but no modifying, or driving this year i think.

Hey do what you have to do but if your going to wax it then drive it once in a while. Just don't go to shows or the strip etc. Just my opinion and I know you will do whats best for you:tup

I have to admit I also thought about selling mine as well and probably still would if I got the right price but in the end it would only be months, weeks, or possibly days before I picked up another. I've been a car guy my whole life and always will be, but I'm also a salesman and don't get attached to one particular car. Some people are opposite of me and have that sentimental attachment to a particular car, and once that car is gone they are done with the hobby. In the end I spend as much time with my family as needed and when I need some me time I spend it with the car. It's a win win if you ask me.

DublDee 02-24-2013 08:56 AM

^^ It's funny because every time I buy a Stang I always say "Oh I'm gonna keep this one for a while". Well I'm already thinking this one will be traded as soon as the '15 comes out, providing I like it. What's wrong with me! :banghead:

When you figure out what's wrong with you let me know because we obviously have the same sickness lol

Red Pony 02-24-2013 10:14 AM

Yep.....really missing driving the Mustang this week more than ever. Work has been rough for the past few months and driving makes me feel sooooooo much better. But then I look at the mess on the roads and the salt truck that pelted my other car yesterday and I'm glad she's still parked in the garage. ***sigh*** Spring just can't come soon enough.

1low03gt 02-24-2013 05:28 PM

I didn't think i was attached to my GT, but when those two seperate guys were gonna come to look my GT, it just hit me!! I think in ways i can still let it go though, but for the right price. I've only had one regret of letting one vehicle go so far, and that was my 1979 F 100 Custom Explorer 1/2 ton pick up. My parents bought it brand spankin new in '79, and once i turned 16, it was retired from construction duties, and handed down to me, which i then owned it for another 6 years after my parents. It was my 1st love when it comes to cars/trucks. The difference with that one, i parted out the engine/trans, tires, and little things, then scrapped the body to the metal recyclers. So it made it easy to let it go as it was time!
So i know if i had too, i can get rid of my current GT..... But i fill i will have a huge regret considering i've made it mine, and did buy it new for the soul purpose of being the only owner, and to have a classic down the road that only had that one owner LOL!
I've enjoyed this car for every penny i spent to buy it, and have no regrets. I might not drive it much these days like most of you do, but when it comes out, it gets driven, and is not affraid to be used on the track, and see 6400 rpms while power shifting threw every gear .
But i am at the point now where a little time away might do me some good to enjoy the other parts of life other then keeping my head under the hood of the car, or detailing my car like i was a freak, ects... LOL

As for the itch, i may not have it now, but i may get it early summer, mid summer, or not at all. Time will tell.

VAEM 02-24-2013 06:01 PM

Glad to read you didn't sell 1LOW Jay - she's a keeper. I took a break from mine a few years back. She sat in the garage for almost 3 years. I considered selling her over and over again. Glad I never did though. Things change, life goes on, and before you know it the itch is back and stronger than ever ... and it's fun again. Really fun. I'm glad I never sold mine. I hope you have the same experience. :)

I know this will be the case for me again. It's in my blood. I just need that break.
It's hard for some to understand my situation considering most are still fresh in the hobby, or have done it before, but sold their ride to raise a family, and come back after the kids have grown (which gave them "that" break), or are older, and just finally got that dream car they wanted when they were younger, but could not afford it at the time. Not saying this is the case for most, but in general.
It does not give me that same feeling i felt for this hobby years ago.
For me it's been doing this since my late teens. I made it my main focus my whole life so far, one car/truck after another, no break in between. So basically i need that vacation so to speak LOL!
Doesn't mean i'm gonna stop chatting on the forums, cause this is a whole different thing, this is like hanging out, which is the best part. :tup

So I will be seeing you out in the spring Jay when I make it down to a meet in the stang. Lol I for one am glad you didn't sell. As you know even when I had my new edge I always admired your car. Hope you and the family are doing well. Cheers buddy!

I know what your going through I went through the sametihing. When I moved to NFO in 85 got married she had two young boys. So I did take it easy bought a House and helped raise our two boys. Ten years later boys where grown and on there own. My wife and I moved to Vancouver island in 98 my Mom and sisters also live on the island so its home for me. I started to get the itch for another Mustang after I bought a 95 Grand AM-GT-DUH, it was OK but its not a Mustang. Sold that a few years later and really started looking. I have my Mustang now 3+ yrs and it feels great this is Mustang #6. I really think its in my blood. So maybe you just need some Time for your family your GT will wait for you! Best of Luck in what your doing! 1Low!:tup

I'll be around still, i love hanging out, but just not with the stang this year. If i do bring it out, it will be like late September, early October, and it's to get the e test done since it will be due early January of next year.
