Is this a good car for first restoration?

1970 Ford Mustang - Alberta Collector Cars For Sale - Kijiji Alberta Canada.
The owner says that it is all original parts on it. there is some rust on the body and several rust holes in the floor. I'm wondering if this is a good car to start with?He will let me have it for $1750 probs.

If you are comfortable welding, or are willing to learn, it could be a decent project. Replacement floor pans and body parts are readily available. If you have to pay someone to do all of that work (which will always be more involved than expected), you will easily end up with more invested in the car than a plain-Jane 302 notchback is worth.

If you plan to use this as a project car. I feel that you must really like/love the car, Or you may get disheartened with it before you finish. Now if you do a bit of searching you will find that you can get 99% of the parts that you will need with out too much work.

Now this is just me here, I had found a V8 Camaro (first 6 months of production). I figured that that would be a cool car. Then I did about 4 months of research and figured that it would run me a bit more than I was willing to put into an older car.

Now for some info on me I have drove a lot of older cars, including a 1957 Chevy Belair convertible that had 0.4 miles on it at the time. I was doing some repairs on it for the owner, because he planned to drive it. That brought home to me how bad the old cars handled compared to the new ones. That's just me now. (you don't want to know what the owner paid for it).

BUT if you find a car that YOU think is very cool, I say YES go for it. The asking price is minor, it is the cost at the other end you need to think about. And that led me to a new car.

All the best
