heat problem

Seems like since I installed my underdrive pullies my 5.0 runs hotter than I like it. Like today it was 25 degrees outside it was running at about 200 degrees. I would prefer if it would stay around the 180- 185 mark . the rad is a 3 core not the single core it use to be . And everything has approx 1700 km on it. Now I have 3 options that I can think of .
1- just change the water pump pulley and hope it works
2 -I have a tarus electric fan the I have adapted into a stock fan shroud
I also have a dual I think 10 inch fan set up .
If I was going to use the electric I would just wire them up to a heavy duty rocker from the negative side .
what is everyones thoughts on this

My Buddy had problems with his 5.0 doing the same thing and we were actually talking about this today. You might want to try a lower thermostat. He was running a 180 and dropped it to I think 150, and he has had no problems. Hope this helps you.

Thats odd, I never had a problem when I did U/D's on my 5.0.
What size thermostat you have in there now?

you may not want my opionion but im giving it anyway.

my 89 was a bitch to get all the air out. We finally had to park it on a hill with the front end up, bringing the rad cap to the highest point of the cooling system so the air gets out easier.

You shouldn't have issues with the pullies. Does the fan have two speed levels ? Is the highest one on ?

GregK meant the fan on your rad. Some of them have High and low speed and depending on how you wired them. they may only be on low.

i had the same problem until i put the stock fan and shroud back on. I left the under drives on though.
