Extended Warranty

I will be picking up my new 2013 mustang V6 convertible on monday. I am sure the discussion with the salesman will come up regarding getting extended warranty.
My experirence in the past is that for my 2000 pontiac grand am gt the extended warranty cost equalled out for repairs near the end of the 5 year period but for the my 2006 ford escape I only needed it for a couple hundred dollar repair bill after the original 3 yr warranty expired.
My question is, what has other experiences been for repairs after the 3 year warranty....is it worth the cost in getting?...do you recommend getting it. I know its sort of a crap shoot but you folks have the experience on this.

It's hard to say. Myself didn't get it with my GT, and had no issues afterwards....knock on wood !!
...But with my '06 F150 i got it, but yet have to use it.... but others might have a different story as it is a hit, and miss with vehicles.

Isn't the warranty for the power train still 5 years and 100 or 160K. So the extended is just for the other stuff that could screw up after 3 years 60000.
I personally didn't get the extended warranty, and with the car your getting I don't think there's that much that could screw up, they've been making cars like yours since 05.
However if you feel you really need the piece of mind should the power seats or something screw up after 3 years then go for it.
But I'd think any big problems would show up within the 3 years.

Powertrain coverage is 5yr 100,000km from factory. If you go with extended warranty make sure you buy Ford ESP. Most non manufacturer warranties are a joke.

Extended warranties are like car insurance - overpriced ripoff scam. Buy it if it makes you feel better, but think about how long you plan on owning the car, how much you're going to drive it, and the fact that whatever you pay for the extended warranty, say $1500 plus, you'd have to burn through that before you ever see any kind of value to getting it.

No extended warranty here, and to be honest I don't want it. I doubt i will be able to wait until the standard warranty is up before I throw some serious mods to my car, which will void the warranty anyway.
