If you have your heart set on the rims base your asking price on the rims alone. If you do purchase the rims, ditch the tires and get new ones.

Yeah thats what I'm kinda thinking too. The guys asking $550, which is decent I think for the rims alone, but it's more the tires I need anyway as my current ones are pretty bald, so I feel like I should hold out for wheels with a better set of rubber. Of all the recent stock Mustang rims, I think these are my favorite though. Does anyone think its likely I'll find a set of these rims for a similar price with better tires if I pass on these and wait?

And is it likely these tires are unsafe to drive on, or just look a little worn? After all the guy says its just cosmetic, but I dont know.

I'd say its 50/50 weather the tires are good or not. However if one does blow out while your at speed it is going to cost you more in the long run. Tires are one thing you don't want to cheep out on. If you like those rims buy them, the price is ok. But get new rubber.
