installing fuel pump
ok, my fuel pump is in the mail.
so when it gets here, if it is still warm out, i will try to install. if not it can wait till the spring. but, just befoe i parked the car, i filled the tank full of gas. am i going to have to drop the tank to change this pump? also will the tank have to be empty or less full? |
you have to drop the tank
obviously much easier with low fuel |
you will need to drop the tank and might have to modifiy the sender if its a 255 lph pump
|
I ran mine low on fuel toward the end of the season knowing I have to do the same. You must drop the tank. This job is much easier and safer when there is low fuel. 96-97's dont need modifications to the sender or basket, only 98+'s do.

cool...looks liek i will suck it out, and let the tempo run some good gas! firejump:

Actually the basket in 87to95 need the mod not sure for 96 97 |
If you are changing it on the ground with stands, jacks etc It will be much easier with the tank empty.

I've seen guy cut part of there Trunk out and install the Pump with the tank untouched.
I wouldn't recommend it though. |
stop by sometime and i'll tell y how to do it.....i just did mine before winter...it's fairly straight foward aslong as the sending unit is good and solid
