K&N Filter?
 

I'm considering changing the stock filter,want to wait until the car is fully broken in and then I will add a cold air intake and most likely exhaust upgrades.My concern is I've read that these filters clog some of the intake components and am wondering if it's worthwhile to spend the money on one. Use of these filters seems to be a hotly debated topic.

If i were you I would look into the AEM Dri Flow filters,The use no oil and work really well..And you just buy a cleaning soloution to clean it once a year.But no oil is a nice thing.

If you want just buy the K&N intake Tube and then just buy the AEM filter separet..

But After seeing the inside of a few intakes coated with oil I went AEM,But Just my 2 cents.

Just checked their site,looks like they just have a cold air intake available

AEM Also just selles the filter,Just get the mesurments off yours,they will have one that fits

I have had the MAC CAI system on my Mustang since 2006. Never had a problem with it.

No problems with my K&N but I don't drive it all that often

I see this thread is fairly old. I have a BBK filter which I want to clean. Apparently regular dish detergent will suffice for the wash. The question is, Do you absolutely have to use the K and N special oil. Or does anybody know specifically what weight it is. I've encountered this many times before in other applications, where a specific oil is mandatory and you find out in time that it isn't. Case in point, John Deere oil is just Esso in John Deere buckets, but more expensive.

I would think any filter oil would be ok but I have always used K&N. I have heard that if you use the wrong oil it can cause issues with the maf sensor.
