looking for other options
 

ok guys w/ modded mustangs when i did the interior on my 82i had to remove the e-brake handle due to the center console coming out of a 88 vert . some were inbetween those years of 82 - 88 they changed the posistion of the e-brake cable hole on my 82 its dead center of the tans/ drive line hump on the 88 its of set to the passenger side . i have the one out of the 88 but it dont mount up due to the hole position .the center console looks good in my car but i need my e-brake for the obivous reasons " the adjusters for the back brakes work off the e-brake " so now i have no back brakes cause they dont self adjust and i dont want to take out the console and i dont want to climb under it after a long days work and adjust it by hand

my question to you is ?

is there a convertion kit that i dont know about
if not can i bend my original e-brake handle w/out damaging it beyond workability
i dont want to destroy my original brake lever handle .
so any imput will be welcome but please dont tell me to take the center console out or get off my lazy butt and climb under it and do it by hand

i know these are options but dont want to do these unless it is last resort

I don't know the answer to the question, but keep in mind if this is going to cost you a lot of money, you could buy discs for the back - which to my knowledge, don't need the e-brake to operate properly.

i tried searching sites that deal with interior conversion and 5 lug conversion and couldn't come up with anything. you could try posting on foureyedpride.com. i am a member, so i could post it for you if you want, let me know.

"I did this exact swap, since I have/had an 88 dash in my 86. You pretty much just have to position the new handle where you want it, and drill the holes. Bolt it on with good hardware and use washers! You will also need the correct cable from the 87+ handle to attach to the pair of cables on the car. I found it was kind of 'tight' though, i think I read somewhere the newer cables are a tad longer, but can't verify that for sure. I also had brand new brakes out back, so that might have made it a little tighter too.

I found that for positioning, it helped to have help. I laid the new handle in rough position, then set the 'cover' over it (but not the armrest) to help get it exactly where I wanted, then marked the holes and drilled them after pulling those pieces back out.

It also isn't necessary at all, but it sure is a lot easier with the driveshaft out."
