2003 Mustang Improvements

I would like to clean up the engine compartment in my 2003 3.8L conv (see photo). What is the best thing to use on all of the black plastic parts under the hood? Also, the intake runners look very corroded/dull. How do i improve their appearance?

Thanks,

Phil

Best thing to use is Autoglym engine degreaser to clean the engine. Cover all electrical parts and things like the air filter with plastic bags. Once that is done spray the engine with the degreaser. Use a goat brush or stiff paint brush to agitate the surface. Let the engine degreaser work for a 3-5 minutes then rinse off with a hose on wide spray. Take off the plastic bags. Start the engine up and let it run for a few minutes to shake off the rinse water. Shut the engine off after a few minutes and wipe any large wet areas still remaining.

The final step is to spray Autoglym rubber and plastic on all hoses and plastic parts. The rubber and plastic spray will look milky white when it is sprayed on. This is normal. Simply close the hood for 1/2 hour to allow the Autoglym Rubber and Plastic to seal.

Canadian Tire is having a sale at the moment you can get both the Autoglym engine degreaser and the Autoglym Rubber and Plastic for 25% off. It is a little expensive normally but it works really well.

Hose on wide spray is a good idea, avoid power washing.

You can buy a fireman's nozzle from Walmart in their car wax section. Cost about $6.00.

Thanks guys. That is the result of years of running as a primary vehicle year round. My job is to bring it back to a presentable state. I'll give the Autoglym a try.

I can do my thumb on the end of the hose for free, plus it's fun to make the siren noises.
