my new car

i just bought the brand new 2011 mustang gt c/s (California Special) now i was just wondering if there are good mods the car that don't void warranty

On a brand new car be careful. To take full advantage of any mods you need a tune. If I am not mistaken ford can tell if you've tuned it and that voids your warranty for sure. You can get intakes that add some power without a tune. I say intake and exhaust is probably about all you can do and even that might be questionable. This is the whole reason I didn't buy a brand new one.

I see so basically i got to wait until warranty fades. I thought that might suck if i bought a new car but i saw it and had to have it. maybe if i talk to ford they may know some mods that dont void it.

Where ford dings you is the say they have to install them most of the time.

Dude, they're all good mods - tons of stuff to buy, but be careful. Dealers like to blame broken stuff on anyhting that's different.

If I recall Ford Racing or FRPP parts and roush parts if installed by an authorized dealer do not void warranty. Also, it's really a myth. SEMA actually covers any problems that may arise as long as the parts were properly installed by a mechanic. The problem is that manufacturers..in this case Ford, can't be bothered to go after the part manufacurer and just claim they won't honour thier warranty. Even though all 3 NA manufacturers have signed an agreement with SEMA saying they won't do that.

I work at a dealer and this isn't entirely true but it does depend on the dealer. We see alot of mods cause driveability problems and if that is the case it's not Ford's responsibility to reapir it under warranty. What we find is when people have modified their vehicle and bring it in for a repair, it can become difficult to diagnose the concern. We usually need the vehicle returned to stock to see if the concern is still present. For example if the vehicle comes in with a hesitation or engine miss and has an aftermarket tune or air intake this can be an issue. If it's got aftermarket exhaust we wouldn't be concerned.

Ford's warranty and policy manual is pretty clear on aftermarket modifications. If certain modifications have been performed, the affected components will not be covered under warranty. Ford Racing and Roush have their own warranty on their parts that are dealer installed. The problem is that as a dealer claiming the warranty can be very time consuming and they normally don't pay the full shop rate. Most dealers will collect from the customer and have them claim through the aftermarket company. By law a vehicle manufacturer can not void or cancel warranty on a component unless they can prove that the modification directly caused the failure.

It all depends on your dealer.Have a chit chat with the dealer, and Ford tech you deal with, then go from there. Some are okey with it,some are not so okey with it.It's just a pick of the litter.
