Navigation Problem

Hoping someone can help me with my Navigation problem. I have a 2014 Mustang with built in nav system. On a 3 hour trip, it shows me getting to my destination in 4 hours. A 2 trip shows as 3 hours. Always approx. 1 hour out. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

Can't help specifically with your problem but I do know that most GPS/Nav's I've used say the trip takes more time than it does. An extra hour seems a bit much though.

Hey sundawg, welcome, sorry to hear your first post is a problem with your ride. Maybe the GPS is taking into account stopping at Tims for a coffee, these newfangled electronics do just about everything. Or maybe you have "little old lady" mode selected.

If you look in setting you can change your average driving speed, that may make the calculations a little closer.

Welcome to CMOC, sorry I can't help. I use just Google maps when I want to go somewhere.

The time is irrelevant anyway, no way to take into account traffic, accidents or construction. I mostly go by the distance and do the math from there....300km to go? 100 km/hr? Should be about three hours. I wouldn't get too hung up about it, just enjoy the drive.

Chadstang has it. You can modify what your approx times are on certain types of roadways.
It was on page 414 in my owners manual (described below):
Avg. Speed: Residential
When this feature is on, the system displays the average speed on a residential road, initially set to 25 mph (40 km/h). You can change the setting for your driving preferences. This setting helps estimate your arrival time at a destination based on your driving preferences.
Avg. Speed: Main Roads
When this feature is on, the system displays the average speed on a main road, initially set to 45 mph (72 km/h). You can change the setting for specific roads and for your driving preferences. This setting helps estimate your arrival time at a destination based on your driving preferences.
Avg. Speed: Freeways
When this feature is on, the system displays the average speed on a freeway, initially set to 65 mph (105 km/h). You can change the setting for specific roads and for your driving preferences. This setting helps estimate your arrival time at a destination based on your driving preferences. Parking POI Notification When this feature is on, the system displays available parking accommodations around a destination that is part of your route.
Low Fuel POI Notification When this feature is on, the system displays gas station icons when the fuel level is low. Fuel Price Display When this feature is on, the system displays fuel prices at local stations. You can choose to display prices for Unleaded or Diesel.*
