Need opinions on brake upgrade
Hi All.
I'm thinking of upgrading the brakes on my 05 stang. I've pretty much narrowed it down to slotted from Powerslot with Hawk pads. Since I intend to go same size as OE, am I gonna see a big difference with stock calipers? Any input and opinions is welcome. Thanks, John. |
Hi John,
You ll see a change with just the Hawk pads, but a small one. I havent done the swap but one of our fellow stanger did and went from stock to Mach 1 disc, caliper and hawk pads on a 03 GT and he told me that the diff. was noticable on hard braking situation. On regular use, it fell almost the same as stock Ciaoooo Derry |

In my opinion stay away from Hawk,Ebc pads the squeal constantly.I would go with some ceramics like Wagners instead!

Brakes? is that the pedal in the middle? j/k
i heard Baer makes a wicked set up but they are priceyrockon: |
i kept my stock size rotor but went to Bear drilled and slotted, I found it made a large difference with breaking, almost no break fade at the track! I just used Ford pads cause i hate the squeal of other pads!

The 07 GT-500 brakes are a bolt-on for the 05 - 07 Mustang V6 and GT, and they are a great deal at around $1000 CAN. You get huge 14" rotors with Brembo 4-piston calipers.
The only downside is that the OEM Mustang GT wheels don't clear, the closest you get is the OEM 18" will go with 1" spacers. You would have to check the spoke clearance on your Boze wheels, I haven't seen those in person to know how much room they have. I was going to sell a set of these brakes to a guy with American Racing Shelby Razor 18" wheels, but they wouldn't clear. If you contact Boze directly, just ask them if the wheels you have would bolt on to an 07 Shelby. cheers Ed N. |
Thanks everyone for the input. I appreciate it alot. I didn't know about the squealing of Hawk pads and I know that Shelby brakes won't fit my wheels without spacers.
So I'll consider everything before making a purchase. Thanks guys.thumb: John. |
