New Goodies for the GT

So after taking my GT out last year after a long two year hibernation, I've decided that I needed to focus on getting the old GT feeling good in ride quality again. Getting older.... the go fast is no longer priority, now it's comfort, and feel.
So the tail end of last year I upgraded the front struts to Koni Sport adjustable struts as a start, plus the Maximum Motorsprots rear end snubber that is designed for lowered stangs of the '79 to the '04 era. The rear kept bottoming out on the factory snubber, and I finally had enough LOL!
Then for this year after driving around, I noticed that I could not stand the brake feel from my GT either!! Seeing that the Cobra brakes are hard to get, or even hard to get without getting raped for a used set, I decided to try a set of Russell stainless steel braided lines for all four corners along with finishing the suspension part at the rear with the Koni Sport adjustable rear shocks.

Man do I love driving my GT more then ever. The Koni strut.shock combo are a major improvement on the GT's feel, even the wify noticed LOL! And for the Russell brake lines, not a 100 percent improvement, but an easy 80% improvement. Now I have a good feel for the brakes, and brakes that don't feel like a sponge anymore. Next year will be concentrated on the front brakes some more. I spent enough already...... but the hunt will go on for a Cobra/Mach 1 brake kit for the front of the GT.

I do try to keep it clean lol. So far these mods are really making me happy, and worth the money spent on them. It's nice having that feeling back again on where I just want to drive, and drive.:)

Alright, time to update on my hunt for the Cobra/Mach 1 13" brake kit. The hunt is finally over. I have finally found myself a set that didn't burn a hole in my pocket. Found the whole kit from calipers, hardware, brackets, and rotors. Now I just need to do some research on brake pads, and decide what I want to complement this brake kit with. Also gonna give the calipers a nice fresh coat of red paint to match my rears.

My next plan for next year is to upgrade the rears with the Ford Performance Rear Caliper Bracket Kit with Rotors from Ford racing which is basically the same hardware that comes on the Mach 1's, and '01 Bullitts which gives you the larger 11.65" vented rear rotors, compared to the GT's tiny "lunch plates" that are non vented. But I will have to decide when as I will need to do my rear tires probably next year too. I've had them for half the GT's life, and they are at the wear bars..... and do nothing for me with traction. :banghead:
If I wasn't doing home renos, I would do it a lot sooner, but the home needs upgrades too, makes the wify happy LOL!

Also finally decided I would like the sequential plug n play tail light kit just to give some pizzaz to the GT LOL! Wife, and kids got it for me for my bday.

This kit is a nice kit, very easy to install. Does flash pretty quick so I do plan on getting the modified flasher that is designed for this kit to slow it down a tad. But all in all, I am very pleased.

Brakes will be a nice upgrade for sure. I can't understand how you made rear tires last that long lol.
