That wonderful Shaker 500 stereo (sarcasm) is now gone as it still had problems playing CD's and no ipod connect...

Now I have a Pioneer 6100 which most people who bought them found they were so complicated that it has been discontinued while only in production for 9 months. Thus... CHEAP... but feature rich which is why it's so complicated.

It has a CD, Bluetooth, ipod control, USB, Sat. radio, multiple connection control for external stuff like 12 disk CD, HD Radio, sub... the works. Even has a remote as if anyone could sit in the back seat to use it.

I bought it at Future Shop and had them install it. It works wonderfully.

Only one issue... when it turns on there's a "pop" from the speakers. This is produced by the factory amp needed to run the speaker taking the initial load from the head unit.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and has a fix like adding a resistor etc...??

Please let me know your experience.

I remember reading around last year, and yes there is a fix for that and It is a resistor but I cant remember what size or anything. . . if I have time today I will try and research it for ya

 

Future shop told me the "pop" was normal. Like I believed that..!!

I have researched since and they are correct. It's the new head unit coming on t the same time as the amp for the speakers.

 

Ok... I have the answer to my own question since all you guys were no help at all.... Sooo.. I thought I'd post here if anyone else has the same issue.

Look on the left side of the page and click on "Pop Eliminators".

There are two models for ON and a couple for OFF. My problem is ON.

Basically when the new radio head unit is turned on the Ford amp powering the speakers is delayed for 1 to 60 seconds (selectable) then comes on and thus no "pop". You cut the switch on power lead to the Ford amp and install the N-66A in the circuit and to ground and you're done. No Pop.

 

Thanks for the info. Since my major install job back in 90 I have never had anything but the factory units to listen too. I will admit the system sounded great but I spent 5000.00 for the equipment and another 1100.00 for the install and with my limited driving nowadays it would not be worth the effort/money.
